The Challenge Of Being Your New Self Within The Old Familiar

from Raw Conversations with Corinne Blum · host Corinne Blum

It’s not easy to change and evolve ourselves because when we evolve, we might find ourselves outgrowing the old and familiar. It’s one of the reasons people don’t do the inner work, or are afraid to, because maybe they begin to resonate less with their friends or environment. Or maybe they go home to their family and their parents trigger all the old ways, patterns and habits. They’re afraid of losing the familiar which feels safe because it’s known. When we evolve ourselves and step into our new, more authentic Selves, old environments can be challenging and even painful because our new Self has to confront our old self. It’s a difficult part of the process of growth. In this episode I talk about how to be with that confrontation in real time. How to not attach to the old story. And how to stay true to our authentic Self along the way. Things might need to adjust. Some people will fall away as new ones will arrive into our lives. Our relationships might need reevaluating and evolving. The way we show up with our parents might need changing, too. But staying safe in the closed bud of our familiar self won’t lead us to the freedom, peace and happiness we’re seeking. We have to find the courage to walk home to ourselves, trusting that the more we choose our true Self, that only good things can come from it. It’s not always easy, I won’t lie. So doing the inner work, tending to your body, feelings and emotions and knowing how to self-soothe, is of utmost importance. Tune in for more… Loving you from afar, Corinne Want to work 1-1 with me?
