The Christ is Jesus

Before the New Testament had taken its written form, the earliest Christians stood in the very city where Jesus had been crucified and proclaimed from the Old Testament Scriptures that the Christ is Jesus. In Acts 2, Peter does not merely announce that conclusion. He argues for it. He opens the Scriptures, takes his hearers to two psalms of David, points them to facts they knew and events that had happened publicly among them, and reasons step by step to a risen and enthroned Messiah, seated at the right hand of God. The result was extraordinary. About three thousand people received Peter's word and were baptized that day. In this first session of a four-part series, we walk carefully through the sermon that started it all and examine Peter's case for ourselves. And that case is still open to examination today.
