Welcome to the Two Hundred & Second Edition of The Chronicles of Podcast, These are The Chronicles of Jonathan Davenport Jonathan joins us to talk about his incredible career in art, design, and storytelling. From falling in love with drawing through classic 80s cartoons like The Transformers, to building a career driven by imagination and narrative, Jon walks us through the moments that shaped him as an artist. We dive into his early days working as a writer and designer in video games, how storytelling became the backbone of his creative process, and how that passion led to collaborations with some of the biggest companies in the world including Disney, Nickelodeon, Mattel and more. Jon also shares the incredible story of answering a Craigslist advert posted by professional wrestler Xavier Woods, which sparked a life-changing working relationship that has now lasted over 12 years. That connection led to Jon designing iconic wrestling gear for WWE tag team The New Day and becoming a key creative force behind their visual identity, as well as many more professional wrestlers since then. We also talk about his work in film, including F+ starring Randy Couture, and the powerful animated short Bridges, created alongside WWE Superstar Big E, celebrating Black History through the story of Ruby Bridges. Also this week, we pay tribute to legendary snooker commentator John Virgo, who sadly passed away this week.
