Death looks final, and Paul spends two years imprisoned for declaring that Jesus died and is alive. That claim stands at the centre of Christian hope. Jesus’ resurrection displays God’s power, confirms Jesus as Lord, secures forgiveness, gives believers new life now and promises life beyond death. The risen Jesus also rules as judge over everyone.
