Saul travels to Damascus intending to arrest Christians, confident in his religious record and fiercely opposed to Jesus. Jesus stops him, blinds him, and appoints him to carry His name to others. Grace begins with God, not human desire or goodness. Saul's grief over sin and changed direction show that salvation brings conviction and repentance.
