Holding tightly to time, energy and money can promise contentment, yet Paul sends away two friends who comfort him while he awaits trial. His joy rests not in having plenty, but in Jesus Christ, whose work on the cross has met his greatest need. That secure relationship frees him to seek the Philippian church’s good and share in God’s greater mission.
