The Commission needs to change it's attitude for White Pine County to survive
from KELY 1230AM/98.5 FM News and Commentary · host Wyatt Cox
The White Pine County Commission is so focused on reducing taxes that they forget that the County needs development to keep the county alive. Right now there are three main drivers in the White Pine County economy - Mining, Tourism, and Agriculture. Recent behavior by members of this commission and the Heritage Park project make it clear that they’re opposed to Tourism. One commissioners aggressive attitude to one possible mining enterprise may kill that project. And Mother Nature is having her way with our Agriculture community. Unless our County Commission realizes they have to change from the protectionist focus of our county to becoming pro-sustainable development, White Pine County will not survive, however low the taxes are. But the old coots in charge are too resistant to change and are likely to destroy what’s left of this county.
