The Commonwealth Beat with Laura LeBeau - Episode 47 - 8/11/2024
from The Commonwealth Beat with Laura LeBeau · host 7 Mountains Media
The Commonwealth Beat with Laura LeBeau is a statewide Public Affairs program airing on all Seven Mountains Media Pennsylvania radio stations. The American Red Cross routinely sees declines in blood collections during the summer, in one part of the country or another. However, to experience a decline across every state where the Red Cross collects blood has officials extremely worried, especially since the Atlantic hurricane season ramps up. Laura Burke, Executive Director of The American Red Cross-Greater Pennsylvania region discusses the ramifications of this blood shortage, and why they're asking every available donor to roll up their sleeve and donate blood. Then, a report issued earlier this year from the Environmental Integrity Project, a watchdog group that follows the impact of legislative policy on the environment, says the sweetheart deals that Pennsylvania has given to multi-national plastics manufacturers have not benefitted the Commonwealth. Lead Researcher, Alexandra Shaykovich will explain the report's findings.
