The Composition 070 - MAKE CONTENT LIKE GROCERY STORE SAMPLES

You remember a time before CO-VID 19, that you would go into a grocery store and they would have free samples? What was the beauty of that? Well, it is the classic, "Try before you buy." Plus usually, there would be some coupons to go with it. As a creator, musician, artist, etc, What I see, and have fallen victim to myself for years is doing the complete opposite. How often do you get or listen to something you have no clue where it is from? Unless the source has some sort of reputation, the majority of the time you are going to stick to what you know. I watched a video on youtube breaking down on average how many songs does it take to "Pop" or "Blow". From what I found it is it takes about 34 songs. Now for a lot of artists I know, including myself, we have more albums released instead of singles. A Single is like a sample in the grocery store, A clip, or a preview is the same as a simple in the grocery store. Does that mean stop dropping albums or that they are irrelevant? No, not at all. Just like the sample of the product in the grocery store isn't more important than the full product itself. The single gives a route to the album. The sample gives a route to the product. The trailer gives a route to the movie and so on. Now, what if you did the Russ strategy? Which was dropping singles every day etc? Well from what I've learned an observed, once someone has done it and gain some success it will be instantly flooded with artist using that same strategy. Plus the reach on Soundcloud and other platforms do not have the same touch as it did when he was doing it years ago, so that specific way might not work anymore. You also want to give yourself an ample amount of time to promote a single. A month or two or three of finding new ways to promote the single. To put it into perspective, with one single song, you can create multiple remixes. You can create a video visualizer, lyric video, in-studio video, original music video, images with a lyric or two from the song. See where I'm going with this?
