The Con-Ventional Podcast Ep 12: Covid-19, Conventions And You

We usually don't open with a sentimental message, but these few months have hit home . welcome to the conventional podcast You think going to conventions is easy ? It’s anything but! You know , our saying has never been more real than it is now . We are a convention podcast, and for an entire year, it feels like there are no conventions . It feels like we should pack up as there is little we can do when there is nothing to review , but that would be a disservice to you and that is not what we are about By this point , we all know about Covid-19, it’s effects on our lives, economy and the world around us as a whole . for many of us, events we have looked forward to all year have been cancelling left and right , as we sit helpless, watching for a better day as nurses, doctors, first responders, (Our hearts go out to 'ALL' of you during this time) and the like put their lives on the line for our sake of survival whilst people put common sense to the wind , attacking  people , rioting in the streets and removing the facade of a decent , well rounded human being and revealing the disgusting excuse of a person underneath. It is at this time , we should be isolating, when instead we witness people rebelling and escalating the situation for the worst. On days like this I wonder if this is the new normal , where common freedoms and joy are replaced by fear  and strife by our fellow man, but then I see the hope that I know we were all waiting for.  I see fellow cosplayers on my feed every day making masks and giving them away to nurses and friends who need them. Companies release material that inspires creation from home, concerts being held via live stream, even conventions are being held online for free on most streaming services  . It is enough to make me proud to be a cosplayer to see everyone stepping up and doing their part where they can. This is a difficult time, never get that twisted, but if we keep our heads up and never give in, we can get past this. We carry on, we keep moving forward and we keep on keeping on.
