As the ultra-Orthodox protest against attempts to draft them into the IDF or perform any kind of community service, internal divisions are emerging in the haredi world. Prof. Kimmy Caplan, from Bar Ilan University, Department of Jewish History, helps decipher the mindset of the haredi and told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that they are not alone in the concept that they are the sole guardians of Judaism but are dependent on government funding for their survival.
