In the dead of night as people sleep that is when the spirits creep as the bell tolls three Dark things take power. We like to call it the super natural Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour. I am Raven your host. I'm rogue.

This is doc and Chad's here So tonight we are actually gonna be doing something we haven't done for a long time We're gonna talk about a case that Ed and Lorraine warned it and it's like a toofer We're also going to do the devil made me do it the conjuring three if you've seen that so it's going to be we're gonna talk about the actual case And then we're gonna do a movie review and then we're gonna talk about how they go together So spoiler alert, there's probably gonna be ghosts Well, and here's your spoiler alert if you haven't seen conjuring three the devil made me do it yet You just hit the pause button go watch the movie and come back because we told you so we don't spoil it for you We're gonna talk about it, but before that, let's do some business. Hey, we got the Wheeler Farm Investigation coming up that's gonna be July 31st the Wheeler Farm in Murray at 8 p.m. We're looking forward to that We've got a good group coming out and that's gonna be a really fun venue and a funny evening out of doors at the Wheeler Farm And we've also got our Insiders summer event that's gonna be August 14 for people that are patrons with our super natural insiders group And they're still spots available there. So if anybody wants to come to our summer event Please go out and sign up on patreon.

We'll get you an invitation to come out to them That was gonna be a super fun venue we've been there once before the super secret Yeah, we've been super secret for a lot of super secret so with that venue and and the paranormal There's different levels of patrons and even anywhere from two to six tickets are available at the different patron levels So go out look at the patron levels and we sure love to have some of you come out and join us with patrons and help us support the show and Help us with our investigations. So we have had some investigations Kind of well, we got to go out on a team kind of fun investigation just for the fun of it. See what was out there That one was a lot of fun. I really enjoy I mean I enjoy all the investigations we go on but the team ones I really enjoy those are a lot of fun.

They are coming to say enjoy about 10 more times It's a little bit more relaxing Just to be with the team because we're not really taking care of a family or Investigating in with you know the public so basically what you're saying is we can wear whatever we want look on professional burp And you're not you're not ghostbusting. So there you go Exactly now kind of on the hunt and that's really truly what we're doing every once in a while is we truly go out and just hunt And that was one of our hunts and that was kind of fun And one of the things that was really fun is we were able to use some of the equipment of one of our new team members Chuck and be able to Use his SLS I think you've seen it on some of the TikTok videos that we posted and some of the different things and we've talked about a little bit But that was a really interesting Piece of equipment and we've now got three of them on the team we've bought two since then Chuck or be a technical file Chuck is a technical file. How many boxes does he have? He has 22 I think 23 only because I'm carrying one of them and we actually have four SLS's on our team and how many Night vision cameras.

He's got he has six. I have one and you have one Yeah, so if you come on an advanced paranormal investigation with us any team that you are on any group that you're with you Will have an SLS we have more equipment than team members It's okay. It's okay. It's okay because moving into the next investigation actually was kind of a solo hit for me And because I'm a new owner of the SLS Of course, it was my new toy and I'm also a new owner of the night vision camera So I set up the SLS with the night vision camcorder behind it I was sitting there shaking my head to have this equipment know what to do with it and use it last night and with that We also I had out the K2 meters the coast Pro I'll give you a little bit of more backup history But I put a bunch of stuff out there on the table to be messed with and with the SLS I was able to capture something trying to mess with the other toys.

So that's very cool That was kind of cool because they weren't actually making the toys do anything I call them toys, but they're not really toys their meters lights or equipment equipment But with the SLS I was able to see but they released trying where with the other equipment we had they weren't making it happen So we really wouldn't have known over there sounds like an addiction you start out with a K2 meter Maybe spirit box and then all of a sudden you've got like six infrared cameras Oh We have a problem isn't that pretty true with anything though? Yeah, you buy in and then you just can't stop and then and then the industry comes out with the new thing and the next thing and And then you want to prove just saying we got a lot of stuff So one thing I like about doing the team only ones just for our team It's usually we usually go somewhere we haven't been before and it was interesting because when we got there You know, I did a walk through doesn't you know just here? I go I miss and walk through and before I use you didn't have any equipment or anything like that before I mean we had it But we had it by the front door and I just walk through and it's like I'm just gonna use my feels and use my intuition Because really what we tell people when they come on public investigations with us is your body is your best tool unless your chat for me Yes, then it's not yes, then a k2 meter Superdance brick wall over here nothing we have to send chat out. It's like we go into another room So these spirits will talk to us please but it was interesting But what I like about that is you know you get the feels and you say okay I think there's this here that here this here and then you go back through with the equipment and either verify or That's absolutely right nullify you know feels and and for me I think for the most part that particular night.

I was about 90% on which made me so good yeah talk about the two portals that we went to right at the end of the night You'd been earlier, but we kind of went as a group to the two ports So this is one of the things that I think Rogue you and I both picked up one was that there was a large portal back in one area And we went back there later in the evening and after doing some investigating You know with with the fields and then with the equipment we determined that it was a very large about 11 feet And when I say very large there might be investigators listen to this kind of hey we get ones that are larger We've that's the biggest one our team has run into that I'm aware of and it was a negative portal, but we were told not to close it It was a conduit and that spirits were going through it weren't We're stopping and saying oh hey It looks like a nice place to hang out and it was huge and we held a pendulum over it And I have never seen a pendulum swing that high and that fast and which way do pendulums on negative portal swing? They swing counterclockwise and then we found a positive portal back in a closet and it was smaller It was about softball shape, which is about the size that we typically run into and with that when we were able to catch quite a few Visual orbs with the video camera. Yes. Yeah, and then I was trying to use the dowsing rods when we were near the large negative one in the Dowsing rods.

I couldn't even keep them It was crazy That's and then we had a couple of people on our team that are sensitive and they would go to stand in the portal They got dizzy and they weren't walking straight You know they were walking to be over sideways No, you just you could not stand in that portal and not feel dizzy or have vertigo of some sort. Yeah Yeah, that one so that was pretty interesting With our camera so first time I'd used it went through three batteries within like 15 Those batteries should be lasting me 90 minutes a piece right and check We're actually gonna bring Chuck on to talk about his equipment on an upcoming podcast But he said his both his and his wife's cell phones to strain almost instantly. I mean our batteries were just tanking Yeah, yeah, there was a lot going on that night very active venue very active Yeah, so one time maybe we can get the public to that one even That one might be able to be able to open that one up a little bit for small public public investigation Yeah, that would be fun because that's a combination of four different warehouses right there Maybe I'll be able to go in an investigation soon. It's that damn night shift and that house.

It's the house It's the move he's meant but hopefully soon hopefully soon. Yeah, all right So outside of that as I mentioned with the SLS I did go over to a friend's house last night and this friend had just She's recently lost her best friend and she's getting a lot of different Signs of thinking that her best friend is here. So I wanted to try to help her to not think she was crazy So I've got the equipment out and went over yesterday and spent a couple of hours with her And I will get some of this over to Raven to get up on our tiktok, but I did catch So I could get her mapping Which just means that it comes out on the SLS I could see her as a stick figure and for those of you that aren't familiar with it the SLS uses the Xbox connects technology and You see like these stick figure things superimposed into the video And it will when you first turn them on it will map the people that are there Sometimes it will try to map on a chair or you know something and so you have to kind of be careful when your first when things are first mapping You know so that you're not saying oh look We just mapped a tree or we just mapped it because sometimes it will try to map onto an admin object But that doesn't happen terribly often and you can usually tell yeah, but this technology was used for the Xbox for some of their gaming things where where it would Register the person in their movements like dance games like dance games and those kinds of things, but it's also picks up People that aren't there comportly kind of interesting no Tesla's do that too They do what? Tesla's have this mapping technology thing that maps people and I've seen a few tiktoks where people have been driving through cemeteries What's the map things are there?

How are they supposed to auto drive if they don't know if people are physically present or not? Right. I don't know this other driving skyways and go. That's all for the ghost.

Sorry. I wrote me hijack. I wrote a story. Sorry So with the SLS I was able to capture Someone so My friend was sitting in the chair it had mapped her and then all of a sudden this stick figure pops up behind her on a cabinet And was like break dancing I could watch it dance around and I captured that with the camcorder that I had sitting on the SLS So I was able to and I captured probably three or four minutes of that one Wow Yeah, so pretty exciting because the ones really we've been capturing some of the ones in the past in the warehouse They're up on the light fixtures or you know This one was actually kind of working with us and I could see at some points where it was sitting on our lap Trying to do things and she could feel the cold air.

So I did get the recorder out I had a spirit box. We didn't really get any spirit box activity I'll have to listen to see if I got some EVPs But we had a lot of activity in that little area and it helped her to feel a little bit better that there really is somebody with her Not just her going crazy. So that was good by the time we record next time we'll have an actual residential We've said this before our residential is getting really slow in the summer because people are out and about and forget that things are Happening in the home. They forgot they were haunted.

Yeah, they do They do it's all the light and like you said getting out of the house. I think yeah Then by the time they get home, they're tired. They just fall asleep. So but it's starting to pick up again We've got one scheduled and one in the work.

So all right. So to our main topic Everybody here has watched the conjuring 3 the devil made me do it and again Here's your spoiler the devil made me do it devil made me do it Okay, if you haven't seen this and you don't want any spoilers Turn us off and come back and listen to us this episode after you've watched the movie I've wanted twice now So if we spoil it for you, it is not our fault. It's on you now. So this is about a case that Edler and Warren did it happened in Started in 1980.

So it's about the Gletzel family the Gletzel family bought a home in Connecticut and They wanted to make it a rental and so they were you know doing some remodeling and doing you know Cleaning it out doing all that stuff that you're gonna do before you rent it out or sell it now They had an 11 year old son and his name was is David Gletzel and he started telling his family that he was seeing the spirit of an angry man And they didn't really pay much attention. He's 11. You know they're in a new place. I think an old imaginary friend Angry imaginary friend right angry imaginary friend.

Okay. You're your imaginary friends a little man. Okay awesome Well, this little man started to push him and physically right physically push him and so he would say mom You know this this this angry man is pushing me well They kind of got on his case because they thought he was saying this to get out of his chores Yeah, he's 11 Yeah attention-seeking and all of that stuff Yeah, they thought he was making it up and he started after a while to tell them the spirit is telling me This is Grumpy old man is telling me that if we move into this house, it's going to hurt us and they're thinking you know whatever Yeah, we're not gonna listen to a grumpy old man imaginary friend right dressed in plaid and Levi's by the way He's just a bird Jack basically burned bird look for right well it turned from just grumpy old man to burned and they he would started to speak Latin and David started describing him as a little less than human big black eyes a thin face with kind of some animal features Jagged teeth pointed ears and hooves and another thing sound human Yeah, it looks like a deer and when I heard that I thought I have just not that I'm like the foremost expert ever But I've been around the block of time or two and we've actually had a case our team where we've talked about it on the podcast of time Or two in Twilla where the couple actually said that they saw hoof prints outside their windows You know associated with the voices that they've heard and knocking that they heard and in this case actually Was a man that was full-on possessed and so you know and we also know that these demonic entities as we call them type 3s Cannot form a perfect human body. There's always something wrong and I think hooves is something wrong Cuz I'll see people walk in with hooves right I was about to say one of the creepiest things is when you have something that's human-like But not quite there.

You just know that something's a little bit off I mean hooves is pretty obvious, but but you know there's a lot that's why people have weird like weird phobias with dolls and things Is because they have that human form, but they're not quite there. There's just something kind of like the black-eyed children Yeah, exactly. There's that feature that just makes you go Don't love this. Yeah, and that's you know one thing that is taught is if you see an apparition and you're wondering if it's You know a spirit of an actual loved one or something manifesting You know trying to be a loved one look at over really good Do they have other ears and their fingers and their feet and their nose really give it a good look if there's something missing?

It is not a good spirit because it an evil spirit of the monic spirit cannot perfectly replicate perfectly replicate There's going to be something wrong. I mean even with Lucy. You know she can't do eyes Mm-hmm. She has no eyes.

There's a bleed basically there black black holes there so Anyway seeing this seeing this entity with hooves and you know jagged teeth and turning more animal than than grumpy old man I think would be disturbing but then on top of it David and again, he's 11 he began having seizures getting some bizarre injuries He would start growling and hissing and I have kids we've all had kids kids make weird noises, but there's a point where you go That's not right Listen to some of the audio with you know some of these interactions and you just go this doesn't sound like an 11-year-old This is a little intense right and there's just that feeling when you hear an demonic growl There's just a feeling that goes through your way I think this is not good. So when you were going through your research Did you get to the point of what really how this really originated and I guess I asked because I did run across it I ran across an old Ed Lorraine Warren TV show one of their TV shows that they put out on PBS about this case No, go ahead. Um now that I say that now I lost my nose Well, you're looking for those just two other things that they really kind of stood out He would start reciting Bible passages. He the boy David the boy David Through David anyway, and then he's also started quoting John Milton's paradise lost And if you're not familiar with what this is John Milton was an English poet in the 1600s and Paradise Lost was printed in 1667 And it's basically a poem of a biblical story of the fall of man the temptation of that of any Eve and you know by Satan and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden and it's in 1600 Pros right it's not something 11 year olds gonna not choice for a child.

Yes indeed Not light reading for 11 year olds in 1980 Nice locks and 11 year old that was a little mentally challenged as well I think he may have been autistic a little bit which could be why they targeted him because there was a chink in his armor his weakness, right? so per Ed Lorraine Warren the mother and sister had gone snowmobiling and They ran into some strangers that practiced witchcraft and they decided to hang out with them for a little while and do some conjuring and in that See they don't show up right when you ask them to but they'll show up a little bit later And that's how that's what the original normal Yeah, and that is the that is the one thing that as I was doing my in my research I did not get into was you know Why would it pick on this on this little boy and I even they were talking about that David was building a little toy dinosaur And they actually had it so it's one of the objects that's in their museum And as soon as he was done building this dinosaur it became animated and once it became animated that was when they started to go So It wasn't it wasn't Rex from Toy Story probably right a little bit before Rex's time Yeah, I'm probably not so this was also this is based off of the 1980 book the Devil in Connecticut That was written by Ed Lorraine Warren right they wrote a book about it So all this is going on the family obviously gets to a point where they're saying oh this is not normal Maybe we need to call someone to take care of this and so they actually called the Catholic Church and said we need an exorcism and The Catholic Church said no and so they were like well dang So they lived in Connecticut Ed Lorraine Warren also lived in Connecticut So they they called him up and said we need some help so Ed Lorraine Warren hop in car drive over I'm simplifying this obviously But after several meetings with the family they say that they have witnessed David levitating They have seen him being beaten by unseen hands and he started to tell things about the future started to predict future And after doing some investigating they determined that he was Possessed by not one but 43 separate entities Well, it's interesting to me that he was reciting Bible versus right like that's a weird thing that you would I don't know you didn't expect it even to do you don't think it would be in a mocking way Because that's you know they mock right and it in the 43 entities to me rings true because we never went into little little type Three so you know nothing like Ed Lorraine Warren have run into but in order to have that much power through those things I would think you would need a lot. It's kind of a we are legion moment exactly kind of thing where you have just an Overwhelming amount of occupiers I guess you could say yes, and that's different than the I am legend Yes, we are legion is more of the you know casting them into the swines jumping off the cliff kind of Morning testament Alastair will Smith yes So anyway, you know when you sit down and you're talking to a family and studying their son and seeing things and determined that they've got 43 evil spirits Occupying their body. They said maybe we needed to get an exorcism So they were able to find now if you're familiar with Ed Warren He is the only demonologist authorized by the Catholic Church to do an exorcism But this at least at that time I don't know if that's changed But from there's only like nine total rate total and he was one of the eight all of the other work out They were all in Italy So he did not do this when he actually found a priest that would do it and so they bring this priest in actually performed three Exercisms on this child so there were nine total nine priests nine priests that came in eventually yeah Seven of them are three of them directly from the Vatican were the Warrens Catholic they were yes That's why they had the authorization to perform the exorcism well the Catholic Church well Yes, and the Catholic Church came to them for help to begin with so interesting they were father Ask any questions because I don't ever remember anything But I can tell you because I do have notes only somebody came prepared father Dennis because I can't remember that father Dennis is the one he brought the Warrens in and the Warrens Originally brought in a medical doctor to make sure that there wasn't something medically wrong with the child's weekend life I've heard that's pretty standard practice with exorcisms is they have to rule out medical causes before they really start pursuing this spiritual thing they need to make sure that this is a psychiatric condition So Rogan I both took a demonology class a course quite an extensive course And that's one of the lessons in the course is you need to rule out mental illness and there have been or not mental I'm just going to say physical things and you know it states very emphatically in there don't diagnose Legal you cannot diagnose unless you have certain Some of this room has those just say So you're saying I'm very fine right trust me to do this oh my gosh But we can't ask questions on residential and I have been to a couple of Residential is where I've had to ask are you taking any medications, you know, and are there any physical Things that you're dealing with that could cause some of these things to happen and it's not unusual I mean, you know, I work in an emergency department to care of a lot of people who have Psychedelic breaks whether it's drug psychosis or manic episodes or schizophrenia And it's funny because overwhelmingly they are hyper spiritual hypersexual those kinds of things which you see a lot with you know where people say oh it's a possession because they say these Things are sometimes crude or very sexual in nature or you know involve the devil or God You know it's sometimes it's hard to differentiate because even at work.

I get people who are you know convincing and Some ways right we had a residential. This has been several years ago and Castle was on his way and He's been trained in I think most everyone knows he's in law enforcement and he's been trained to recognize You know different drugs and alcohol and do a field sobriety tests kinds of things And so he was running late to this one and he had told us he was running late And so we got started without him and at one point I stepped out into the other room and I called him and I said you need to get here fast because she is either a full-on possessed or Highs guy or she's on meth because that's your that's your big year right there Yeah, meth causes some pretty impressive drugs like houses right so he got there did did a sobriety test on her And she was on meth and he said to her says when was the last time you did meth and she said oh it's it's been a month ago And he says try again. Oh, it's about a week ago. I had an hour ago so better.

Yeah, so definitely can be You have to be careful So, you know all this is going on they have a the glitzels have a daughter. Her name is Debbie She has obviously you know terrified of everything that's going on because we can tell the story You know roughly in 45 minutes She's living it for months and months on end and so she asked her boyfriend Arnie Johnson to move in because she didn't feel safe And so she said you know move in I'll feel better if you're here and so He did so he moved in because he wanted to help keep her safe He was like 21 and he was actually president one of the exorcisms and you know, he loves his girlfriend You know little brother He does loves little brother too and he's watching what's going on in this exorcism and he wants to protect David And so he jumps in and he encourages the demons to enter his body instead He gives him permission, right? And that's something that we as a group always tell people on public investigations do not Entagonize them do not invite them to come home with you Do not give them any kind of an invitation at all because like you said earlier with the snowmobiling witches They might not wall if you know they might not wall if you next year It could be ten years, but you will get wallet patient Mm-hmm. They've got all the time in the wall That's one of the things you know people talk about possession or just Roberts their opportunistic and they're gonna wait until you're at your weakest point, right?

That's when most Predators predators coming get you is when you're in a moment of weakness and boom. That's when they pounce They're not gonna come after you and you're strong. They're not gonna come after you when you're resilient They're gonna come after you when you are worn down Yes, and then they'll find the weak spot and then they wear you down even further until they get you get to the point where you just give up and say whatever You know take over right? It's exactly what they want and that's in every single demonic story movie Yeah, based on the true story.

It's it's the same cycle. So there are three steps of possession Yes, okay, and they are Infestation infestation oppression possession and it's a process and there's not a time limit on this It's not like three weeks and then six weeks and then four months Some people can argue that there's five and if there's five steps, it's encroachment then infestation Oppression possession and death because again that is their ultimate goal. You just got your bookends on there That's pretty much a difference between the five Let's get started and let's be done now. Okay, so the interesting thing is you know You do not want to give these entities any kind of invitation Information and the Warrens warned him not to do what he was doing Yeah, and I wasn't there, but I'm sure that they all said okay No matter what happens do not do this and when he was doing that they probably said don't do the thing Do you know the thing?

Don't do the thing? Well, they also said that he works as a landscaper and he was working all day And then he would stay up all night with David to try to comfort him So the family could rest and so he was exhausted at the time that he did this right again So right there is gonna be a week there's your worn down and there's a quote by Ed Warren that I wrote down that I wanted to share Because I really like this he says it's this is as far as giving them an invitation It's just one of those things you never do not if you know anything about this sort of thing You never do it. Don't give them an opening ever So anyway Debbie and Arnie decided that they were gonna move out of the house to protect themselves They got the point where they just said this is too much. We're out.

This was after Arnie gave the invitation. Yes Yes, and at this time it wasn't manifesting him Okay, and so You know they move out, but slowly he starts to show the same symptoms that David did he would go into tresses He would growl he would you know say that he was seeing this beast and then he'd have no memory of it And these are the exact same things that David had been doing and wasn't doing anymore because they moved on They moved they're like hey look new beer house, right Where we have permission to set up. Yeah, yeah, and maybe you know an adult male Better target than 11 year old right and I mean and I don't know exactly how it went down But with an 11 year old, you know they still have to gain permission And so that's where they imaginary friend Claire Monica right and this is why when you're on a ghost investigation And little sad Bobby Joe who was talking to you and the kids are so mean to me You just wanted to keep home with you know don't because then you're gonna start rallying and his scene And seeing old men with hoods walking around your bedroom, you know, which is you're signing up for something You're not quite sure what it is so when you go on an investigation with us We say don't invite anything home. This is why even if it sounds like a fairly benign Child spirit.

Don't you think like the mom and the sister though doing the witchcraft they invited it in I think he was pretty much an innocent target right David was it probably brought it into the home and then We found the week as like David being you know the kind of innocent right child that was just like hey I see a person. I'm interacting with this person and the more you interact with it more likely there is to take hold of you Exactly it goes to Annabelle. You know Annabelle this doll's moving and they the girls thought it was cute and fun It was a game sort of playing start playing with it and then it got ugly. See what we can do, right?

So again the same cycle over and over so Anyway, so Arnie's starting to do the weirds. Well Debbie worked as a groomer Or in a place with a dog shelter housing Place and her manager's name was Alan Bono And this was in February of 1981 Debbie and three of her sisters and Arnie were all at work hanging out with the dogs That's fun, right? Sometimes So these sisters are 13 and 15 and 9 and their names are Janice. Janice is a 13 year old.

Wanda was 15 and Emily Emily was 9 Keep in mind I hand wrote my notes. So over the top of other notes apparently. Yes, it's impressive Music paper. We're using paper.

So they were at work and Alan came in and he's a nice guy. He's from Australia Just a little trivia not that's how I feel about you. Alan be the owner. The manager.

He was the brother of the owner and he bought them lunch. Okay comes in. Hey gang's all here Let's have some lunch by some lunch. He starts drinking and kept drinking and drink a lot and he really got it kind of dropped Did Arnie also participate in the drinking?

Possibly. I didn't write that part down. The movie it says he did So Debbie's getting concerned because Alan's just really getting sloshed and her three little sisters are there And so at some point she says okay, you know what we're out I'm gonna take the take my sister song because this is getting out of hand You're snuckered and Alan reached out and grabbed the nine year old tan And I grabbed her arm to stop them from going. Arnie lost it stabbed Alan five times.

He died Yeah, sounds uh Sounds like a bit of an overreaction. Yeah, I mean, you know, uh, you probably could have said hey Don't do that There might have been a little bit of that Um But after he after he stabbed Alan He walked that was described as he walked off into the woods in a catatonic state And then later when they found him he had no memory. I mean he's covered with blood Has no memory of what happened? You know, he's standing there in the woods.

Please when we're talking to him. He's like I what happened? I killed a guy. Well, I mean, I'm adding some words in there, but But pretty much I can do it right.

Yeah, but basically when they questioned him about what went on he had no clue He said he had no idea what happened. Just blanked out. Nope. Um Little side note Judy whose Debbie's mom told the Washington Post after everything kind of went down She said this world is being controlled by the devil look at the drugs the prostitution the gambling the violence the devil is in charge of it all And I completely agree with that Um You know, my personal opinion is is that's what he's trying to do.

He's trying to just create chaos and And make him and he's doing a good job some dark days. You know back to arnie um Long story short Lorraine had actually called the local police department four months before this happened and she said you need to keep An eye on the goings on there because something really bad is going to happen She said I don't know what it is but keep an eye on some bad stuff going down And they probably thought she was insane, but she was right because some bad stuff did happen So they and by they the Warrens said we might be able to get you off On you know if we can convince the jury that you were possessed and you had no knowledge of this we might be able to get you off Right, but that defense had never been successful or even tried when I understand United States, right? And the judge said no They couldn't use that. No, we're not even gonna go there.

I'm at the devil made me do it Not not doing that um, but he was convicted of arnie was converted Arnie was convicted of first-degree manslaughter on November 24th 1981 He was a model prisoner served five years and they released him after five years because of his good conduct He actually married Debbie and they're still married to this date And didn't he get like it's some kind of a degree while he was in I think so and I don't remember what it was in But I mean he went to school following all the rules And when I was watching ed Warren today, I know I did some of the same research that you did here five years But ed Warren today said that he only served two years that aren't only served two years ago for killing somebody for killing someone And he said and if they would have allowed our evidence he wouldn't have served even one day You know ed Warren. He's very he's very Things good So I did get a little information a day from youtube video and they were talking about I was following up on the conjurene in the movie that we're gonna talk about in a few minutes And they talked about mary his wife and she actually has passed away like just very recently Oh, I didn't within the last like since the movie came out the mom The girl that mary her his wife because I just seen Debbie Talking like I just watched a little bit of her I just saw it today. They and it was a new one and they said that she has passed I think it was cancer Oh, it's too bad So there's a lot of controversy and there's always a lot of controversy around ed larin You know people are saying that they think it and they're trying to do it for money Do I think that they wanted to make a little money off for writing some books? Absolutely, why not?

Well, they needed money to get out and be able to do some of the things they were doing as well, right And and whether or not, you know the way they made their money and the way they went about writing the books I don't know right but I abs I don't believe that they Have coaxed or faked any evidence I have a hard time believing that the fiscal incentive was the big thing because it's not like I mean even these conjuring stories They didn't become these big, you know, what must have been these bus or movies until it last in years Maybe maybe even more recently than that for most of it right, you know I was watching a couple of his Lectures today and he's showing pictures that have to be taken have to be sent somewhere else to be exposed So they can see that there's a ghost in that picture where we're just snapping something so quickly And then I was even if you wanted to contact them or if you needed help or if you wanted to tell them something You just send you know something to their PO box or to Korean monro can educate and I was like wow that happens fast Well, it seems like they had a pretty modest living in a modest home or they weren't living in a mansion Well, they and they didn't charge people so like these people weren't charged But they were asked so it's not they're not charged to come into the home but charged to pay for their travel expenses, right? Which is fair, absolutely, but that's not profitable So a couple of years ago when Lorena was still alive Castle just called her up bringing you on the phone and she answered yeah and had a conversation with her after I came there Yeah, she seems to be that type of person I think that we could still I put I point to my phone because I kept that PO box because I bet you it's still active and Tony Sparrow will answer your your requests So and he is their nephew no that he's Judy's husband. Okay, their daughter Judy And I have met John Zafus. He was actually in Utah a few years ago and he's there nephew very very nice man He's the one who's really big on haunted objects, right?

Yes, yes, and he's written several books. I'm gonna go on attention because I want to say it so I saw a thing where Lorraine was talking about Ed and how they would originally get into some of these homes that they were interested in in doing it Oh, this is a fun story And Ed would it stopped outside of the house that they wanted to go in and investigate and Ed was a pretty good artist And he would sit down and he would sketch the house and make a nice sketch of the house take 30 or 40 minutes and sketch out the house And then they would go up together and present the sketch knock on the door and present the sketch to the homeowners And then say yeah, we did this and you know it was up to us. We'd love to come in and investigate Hi, you have a beautiful home filled with demons Can we come in? That's how I started just getting into homes originally by doing sketches over their houses I wonder how much those and sketches are worth now All right, that'd be pretty funny.

Yeah, and again. I am I am not an exorcist sanctioned by the Catholic church And she's not gonna be sketching your house. Oh, no unless you want like the stick person version of your house You're not gonna get a sketch either, but just you know having You know investigate it's not investigative but researched in the rain war and and reading their their stories and their books and watching lectures that they've given And the information I have from the demonology class I took they all just they they match they I think they're giving it to you straight. Are they 100% on correct on every single tidbit that they've investigated they're human they're gonna make some mistakes, but I think in general they're spot on and I Don't think that they're they're okay.

Right. Well, and then you give movie rights to Hollywood and of course they're going to embellish them They're gonna even watching the movie. I felt this next time Someone this was probably embellished, but that is a great segue is pretty good. Are you pretty much done with the investigation part?

Oh, yeah, we we got him married and Debbie's passed on so And Arnie only served a couple years. He only served a couple of years Um the little boy is married live in his own life David and everybody's just live in half the ever after until recently and so As far as resolution from all of this he goes and kills um Goes there goes and kills uh The guy that they work for at the right right and then voila demons gone. Yeah, we I'm not sure either Problems are trouble. I said I did to death and I got out two years later and we good Well her the movie right for the movie we've seen what happened.

So honestly as I was researching for this podcast I probably read 12 to 14 different websites, you know different stories because you know how it is you got to read a whole bunch of stuff Try to filter out. Yeah, I've read the same thing on these and then not not one of them said anything about where the demon Yeah, I didn't get anything out of that either out of Ed and Lorraine nobody talked about how it was here is a murder to do and Oh Got the soul and left thing and we did touch bases though that they couldn't use the possession defense They did a What was it a self-defense? He made a self-defense plate and originally they were looking at a first-degree murder with a death penalty Right, you know that they were looking at pursuing and they only ended up with a manslaughter charge and you know Five two to five years. Yeah, that's pretty pretty crazy that you're able to to knock that down And they said he was a model prisoner and that part the reason that he got out early was because there was no problem I mean he never my guess is that once he got into the jail in the prison I wonder if the demons were like, well, we can't do anything here.

Let's go on and find someone else We can you know the the devil made me do a defense was interesting And I think they mentioned this in the movie a bit where they said hey I mean no one's just beating the god exists right? We all swear on the bible and you know before god basically that we're gonna tell the truth Uh, and we believe that there's a god then in this dualistic reality that we exist in Doesn't that makes sense that there would be an opposing force that there would be a devil? Yes, absolutely So under the movie I find it interesting because in the actual case they talk about a well that's associated somehow with With the home Right, but so I'm with you on that so in some of the research I came across that but today listening to Ed and Lorraine No mention of the well. No, no, no, and they mentioned it like the movie So now I have contradiction as to how that happened So they they talked about some little skull figurine creature No skull figurine know the part where arnie yells and tells the devil to come to him and to leave david to come and attack him That that's really how it happened But I also am with you where I read that he went to a well and looked down into the well and seen the face Right and then the little boy david had also seen the old man around the well Where in the movie luring went under the house and found some little conjuring which thing totem totem and then you look like jaws Animal Voodoo thing and then there were some guy Out in a house The old sheriff or an old priest and he had been tied in and this is a time that they made back into the other conjuring movies On the earlier one where they had the Satan worshippers and there was a tie in there But in all of the material that I saw it were read about The the devil made me do it case.

There was no mention of that that that I believe is a hollywood Italian altogether tie things in to pull it in together because they brought in this woman and she was in this cavern underneath the Priest maybe she was the snowmobility Right because she was basically practicing witchcraft in that form So that could just be their version of the snowmobiler Right. It seemed like a lot of the movie was focused on this cursed object that was underneath the house Right and so again with the Warren's the only object they had was the dinosaur Yeah, which you know, it's not but you know hollywood and I get it You know, they're out to make a buck They want to you know make it interesting and they have to add some stuff to you know Keep you riveted to the tv, you know I mean at one point towards the end And it's trying to kill the rain right going after her because this lady has somehow possessed Hey, the focus of the movie it was less about demonic possession and more about being cursed almost It's kind of the focus that I felt like the movie had was like, oh, you know, yeah You're being manipulated and controlled but it's because of this covet and it's because of this cursed object that everybody's kind of Right and they got rid of the of the demonic entity by breaking the table right? That's right. There's an altar with a whole bunch of different A couple things on there in the college and then you know in the murder scene they didn't have all the sisters It was and I get it, you know, you're trying to keep it simple You know, so I kind of get it from hollywood's point there and I didn't hear edmler raine today talk anything about ed having a heart attack They said that he did have a heart attack, but not the way they portrayed it Oh, yeah, he was all about the heart pills in that movie Yes multiple times.

I need a heart pills and then for her to have one in her locket with the tree One picture. Yeah, they made a pretty big deal out of that saved the day Right. So he did have a heart attack, but it wasn't during anything to do with the case the case Yeah, so that's what I thought is I've known that he had heart problems and things But I think that that was something they grasped from somewhere else in their life and pulled that in so they could have that dramatic scene of Wherever he is is where my home is and it's like, okay I'm sure that that's like really kind of happened but not in that time frame Well, and then and I don't know how that if this is one thing I didn't research and now what we're doing this I wish I had is how they actually met edmler raine because they do address that in the movie How they met how they talk about it and maybe just how they talk about it is for real They they met when they were really young before he went into the service and they met in the casino Yeah, and he called her a gold digger Yeah, they didn't say that Because he offered to buy a bunch of girls at the at the place of coke and she ordered a nice cream soda Because she calls a white coke And then you know, there's a little touching moment at the end where he gives her a good seat bow. Yeah So one of the things at the beginning of the movie that I noticed and if when you watch the movie The first thing that hit me was the opening saints and and it's an homage to the exorcist It's almost identical.

I mean the whole Shadow in the house and the price walking up and I mean I looked at it and I said, you know, this is Might as well have a sweet hat and a briefcase because we're pretty much there So and there's a lot of things there's a really good youtube video about it. We're talking about a lot of the different parts of Cinematic paranormal things have been pulled into this and I'm trying to remember the water bed There's a scene in another movie about the water bed And I don't remember if they said that that was an actuality in the in the conjuring case itself The water bed for that was real today With the case yeah, but that's that's also been in another Major paranormal kind of movie, you know the Hollywood's done and so it was a tie in is it poltergeist? I don't think poltergeist had a water bed. I'm terrible with movies Don't ask me but I should just be quiet There's a lot of things that were brought into the movie when I say they're almost an homage or a callback to another Other Hollywood blockbuster paranormal movies and it pulls in because it gives you that feeling of this is familiar and scary right on the reputation of the Exorcist oh my goodness, you know when it came out it was just if you're automatically going there You know you're in for a ride right and one of the other things that I came up with So when they were filming the conjuring three and one two, I guess this is actually seven the conjuring universe Yeah, the conjure verse that they have priests come in because they're out there.

They're talking about this stuff They're saying some of these stuff. They're conjuring and they are there's the concern of what they're really actually bringing up So they do have people come in do blessings and take care of the castes and the they're creating that environment That's inviting for dark stuff. Yep, and it's archetypical I kept hearing that word today And I was like are you kidding me? You set things up and it's you know something it's archetypical or something it's kind of universally Understood right and when you do certain things you invite certain things and that's consistent everywhere Even if you're even if you're parodying something that act may bring about ramifications or consequences that you didn't intend in reality Yeah, that was something I didn't even take into consideration really with these guys making these movies is to the effects But you always kind of hear of like unpulturguised in some of these older movies some of the repercussions Now the curses that you hear from older guys was a pretty classic one right even in the exorcist I'm pretty sure they talked about kind of how the crew you know that there was a a curse or bad things happened You know to people who participated in the creation of that movie right right And we stop and I say you know even though Hollywood does their thing and puts their own spin on it I have seen these other seven movies in the conjure verse.

Yes. I think I have seen all of them That's like the conjuring movies the Annabelle movies and the none And I think the none is more of just a spin off of and that's what they said so like when they show the none picture when they're showing the museum They were like we've got to tell the story of that so to me That's a made-up story of a picture and I don't have any interest in that and they also do a backstory of Annabelle and that it's just a theory If they don't they don't know it wasn't based in any real event It was that was Hollywood magic making for based based on true of it It's based based and based and by based we mean we made all of this up But Annabelle was a real doll but that doll that they represent Even that doll you know it might have been scarier for their raggedy and I think it would be scarier for their raggedy and you had them under the stairs Terrifying yes, I think that it would terrify every little girl that has a raggedy and they couldn't do that So they had to make a creepy ventriloquist doll looking thing I do think in the movie though kind of the conclusion of the movie and most of the things after the actual trial And that area with Ed and Lorraine and some of those things that move forward My take on that is that's almost all Hollywood. There was no I didn't see any talk about that actually didn't talk about You know anybody dying you know associated with the case like what would have happened in the movie Different things like that the old crease they didn't bring him up So there's a lot of things in the movie that I think are very much Hollywood Well, if you did it exactly the way the case went it would be more of a documentary And it would it would miss a little bit of that entertainment shot jump I miss a lot of the entertainment job and one of the things that they were focusing on was the love story of Ed and Lorraine That they were talking about today and the making of the conjuring So that really was a key focus of keeping the balance of the movie just so it wasn't a terrifying movie It was kind of a love story I'm trying three. I enjoyed it right Better than some of the love stories I've seen right So we're gonna do things just a little different today.

We're gonna shake things up. We're gonna jump to the jump drawer All right, we like to have things different. There's more after the jump drawer. What does it jump to the jump drawer?

All right So, um, it is kind of campaign time. A lot of people are doing campaign right now Um, and so I found some sit around the campfire and go stories So we're gonna go work out with this. So if you're gonna go camping in the next six weeks or so here you go You can really do a doozy with with your friends and family So there is a woman in 1984. She was just sitting at home and reading and kind of minding her Business winding down and she heard a very clear voice inside of her head and this voice told her don't be afraid I know it must be shocking to you to hear me speaking like this But this is the easiest way I can think of my friend and I used to work at the children's hospital Um on great Ormond street and we would like to help you That's a very detailed uh, voice in your head man.

And she's sitting there like whoa, you know, am I on candid camera? You know looking around so Um because of what they said and the way they talked to her she thought, um, maybe I'll go to the doctor My dad what's up? So she went to the doctor not only did she go to the medical doctor, but she also saw a psychologist because she's thinking, oh great and after um Several tests and several doctors. They actually diagnosed her with a large benign brain tumor.

It's what's written in parentheses A meningioma. Thank you. And I am brain tumors. That's why we have here.

Our podcast will correctly pronounce medical law I'll try. I mean many got me sometimes. I'm like, I don't know. He's gunky.

He got schmutz there So she kept hearing this voice though through all this medical testing. It didn't go away And so you know they they diagnosed with this tumor and they were able to remove it And the patient heard the voice as one last time as she was regaining consciousness after waking up from this Uh from the surgery and they said we're pleased to have helped you. Goodbye Right. How many of you all these details so you think you're crazy?

They know go get medical tests then you can get your tumor removed I will say see ya. We're out. Good times. So, um, she said she didn't have any post surgical problems and she never heard the voices again That's interesting.

Right. And so um, they actually did a study on her You know the study of a patient diagnosing her own brain tumor with the health of the serious voices And they published it in the British medical journal Journal wouldn't have been easier the voice was just like hey, you got this tumor in your brain I would think so. Go get a take care of. I would think so.

Instead of like a elaborate introduction about I used to work at the children's hospital on Ormond Street Seems like a that seems like a really like tangential way Sounds like a tangential way to get someone to go get the brain tumor checked. Maybe there's some rule when they can't leave exactly That's right. They're very brown. They're not medical though.

How do I tell you? That's right. They're not allowed to diagnose it like so We're gonna medical field you can trust me and work at the children's hospital. You should see a doctor I'll be good at checking.

When we're investigating for so literal when it comes down to it. They don't have to be literal anymore. That's right That's kind of a difference between when you pose them a question and when they come to you Yeah, that doesn't seem to be fair Like a literal answer would have been good brain tumor. Yeah.

Well, and then you got people who just come in like a brain tumor You know you don't Okay, did you have a voice they told you they work at the children's hospital on Ormond Street? It's not a tumor. It's not a tumor. I'm a story my sister will kill me for telling you this, but I'm telling you this So she had she had a phase in her life where she thought everything was cancer Please don't kill me If you're listening to this my dear sister and um long story short one episode of cancer and I'm using my airquel She said yes, how did you know because of major p-stank?

I said didn't your piece take every time you went to crampos house because he feels asparagus every time we went there That's due to the amino acid disparity by the way. Just so y'all know random tidbit. So you belong on jeopardy I have diagnosed I have I have I have I have I have I have a diagnosed medical thing. Does that make sense?

No, I know you don't have cancer you made asparagus. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it was I was a spare I love you sister. Okay.

Um last one So there was a person as in say if it's a man or woman, but this person's grandfather had passed away Just a few weeks before they were born never met um their grandfather never even knew what he looked like And when he was five years old I get off at the man or woman, but we're gonna be 10 like this guy when I was five years old He started to see this man in his rocking chair. He'd go in the living room. There's this man a rocking chair And uh this person would call him rocking chairman. Hey, rockin chairman.

That sounds like something That's like something I would name pretty simple. I'm quite descriptive I hiked to a cave once a week and there's one of the rangers plays a flute. I call him flute man I'm not five years old. Anyway, so he called him rocking chairman and um his parents thought it was cute His parents are thinking oh, he's got an imaginary friend, right?

and but He said it so much and talked to this rocking chairman so often that it really got on the parents nerves because it was like a daily multiple times a day Sort of deal and they were just getting super annoyed And so finally they sat him down and they started questioning this person about it And questioning their child, you know, what does he look like and um so he told them every detail he could think of and After they'd questioning for quite some time he'd given them all these details They pull out this picture and I showed him the picture and they said is this rocking chairman and he says yes It was his grandfather And then they didn't feel so bad about him talking to us right and he says to this day he's 20 at the time that he told the story I don't know how old the story is but at the time that this person was 22 every time he dreams His grandfather is in the dream somewhere every dream And he says I remember when I dreamed about my high school graduation This person looked in the stands and saw him with the parents He says I like to just think that he's watching out for me and being there when he's not really there I was gonna say there's probably some wild dreams that grandpa doesn't belong in Those weren't scary campfire stories. I don't know what to talk to pence We don't think they're scary but I was sentimental if I told it to my hat she gets scared. Okay, so we're just tough. We are doo doo doo doo doo Yes, we are So there you go.

I'm gonna drain him when you're naked in front of a group of people No, I have that you know I don't want grandpa there No No, the good dreams that you want grandfather for The good dreams that you want grandpa therefore or you know when you're locked out of your house dreams He's got skills or you can't get your locker at school open or like you're taking the test at school You forgot all the answers you can like three little paper airplanes. Yeah grandpa's got experience He's got no how he could bail you out in those situations, but not not the naked speech one He's making three some undies, I guess He's jagged a towel Okay, so Tell us how you got started. How did you get to the point where you're not scared of these creepy stories? Um, well, I guess my start starts a long long time ago in a land far far away because I'm that old Should we queue in the Star Wars themselves right?

Galaxy far far away Not as Idaho, so I grew up close to an Indian reservation so In that area every house is built on an Indian burial ground and the house I grew up in is no different So when I was a small child probably the first thing that ever happened to me still to this day is the scariest thing that has ever happened to me I haven't had anything terrifying me as much as this one moment So I was my parents had divorced my dad was living with stepmom had new stepbrothers And I was kind of the outsider. It was summer. I played softball. I was coming home from softball practice I go to my makeshift room.

That's also aka dad's office I'm laying on my little twin bed And I laid my hair over the side of my bed because it was hot not air conditioning So like now Exactly with no air conditioning no central air no fans those those things don't exist in the land I grew up in Um, and all of a sudden I felt somebody grab the full lock of my hair and pull it very very hard It wasn't something you just kind of so I got off the bed and I looked under the bed expecting one of my stepbrothers to be under the bed Playing a cool trick on me and there wasn't anybody under my bed I ran out of the house and sat out on the stoop until somebody came home and didn't go back into the house until then After that moment I kept having experiences with this entity Um, we gave him a name of Herkamer Herkamer and my father named him. I'm not sure where the name came from But living in that house for 10 years. He would hide things from us. He would interact with us Um, I would see him in different phases of his life So I seen him as an apparition as a small child as a teenager as an older man Um, by the time I grew up I was living in the basement the back corner by myself like you just get used to it I was so used to having those weird noises upstairs in nobody's home or you know Those just those different things when you get used to having it and that's just herkamer It just became a part of my life.

So everybody in the home where they did everyone experience. Oh, yeah So it wasn't just you know all of us we all knew Um, my father finished our basement and one of the things Herkamer liked to do is take my dad's tools So my father would say you know be hammering and then you would put the hammer down and all of a sudden the hammer is gone And we're all looking for the hammer and we find it two weeks later in the garage and you're like That's not where that belongs. So different things like that happened and then as I moved out He followed me. So the first place I moved into I was still having things happen Herkamer was still there I would see his shadow and then when I moved to Salt Lake and had my son My son started interacting with him and then when my son became about seven years old He quit interacting with him and it was just something that kind of faded away for us But herkamer's back So, um, herkamer is now back.

He's working. He's playing with my ghost meter pro when we're doing events when i'm doing different things He's having a lot of fun. It's a little agitating However, that's why I got my start is with my friendly Herkamer my good hair yank nothing has scared me past that like that that was pretty terrifying for me So do you think that it was it wasn't malicious when it happened? No, I think everything about everything he's done has been playful I just scared the crap out of you scared the crap out of me.

I mean when you don't know what's gonna happen for the first time Absolutely terrified. Did you think when you moved out? Did you think I'm done? Like we're not gonna have any more interactions with herkamer?

Yeah, because my brothers had moved out and herkamer stayed at the house Um, but I was a last kid to move out of the house and herkamer came with me. Um, he would do things so Lived in a house full of teenagers. We shared a bathroom. My dad had the bathroom shower door with those cloth Hooks, you know, it kind of goes through the sheet rock and then it spreads at the back of the sheet rock I remember what those were called anchor hooks.

Um, so that's how he would have the shower door in One time I go into the bathroom to take a shower and the shower door is off of the Hook off of those those have been pulled straight out right through the hole and the door is just sitting there and I'm like I didn't do that and by that time my brothers have moved out everybody was gone Um, it's one time in my life I used the Ouija board because I didn't know how else to communicate with him and asked him if he had done that and he said yes And you know things like that that that that was pretty freaky because how did you how how did you make that happen? Mm-hmm. So um, but then the story so was also told that Indian burial ground but we were also told that when the house was brand new a couple was walking around the house to look at it And the third little boy was running around doing his thing just whatever parents aren't really paying attention And he fell down the stairs and died at the bottom of the stairs. You like broke his neck and died at the bottom of the stairs Who knows whose story was true?

Um, but I do really believe that we had a child spirit that was very playful with us So that's my story And that actually segues quite nicely into our new segment perfect. We're not doing a bucket list today and the bucket list isn't going away It will surface every now and then but we're going to start a segment which I'm which I have just named just now I've been thinking of a name word that just came to me. It's going to be called Tails from the attic of despair Hey, nice nice addition. So these are kind of we've been asked by so many people to tell personal experiences and in things that have happened And as I'm was trying to decide which one to give I thought I've got a lot of these and some are going to be really short And some will be a little bit more detailed But everyone's going to have a turn just to you know tell a personal experience that I've had and it can be one from a residential It can be personal it can be from family It can be on an advanced paranormal if you're listening and you have had an experience of something that you can't explain and would like to email it to us We can share that as well.

We can use your name or you can use a pseudonym something cool like Raven Excellent example Don't use Raven. That's my name But the one I'm going to give you is one from my grandpa my dad's dad actually And he has not one to make up stories. I actually never knew him But I know my dad and I've heard talk about my grandpa. He's not one to make up stories He was a traveling salesman and spent a lot of time away from home and You know spent a lot of time in hotels.

He was actually a very successful salesman And he was staying in a hotel and they lived in the Midwest He would have been in the Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas I mean literally in the middle of the United States that area I don't know exactly where he was when this happened But he you know without doing a salesman thing during the day got finished with his meetings Whatever it was that he had done and he went to the hotel went to bed And very very similar to your story Rogue in a way middle of the night two or three in the morning and He had He woke up with Someone pulling on his foot And you know he woke up and the sensation of his foot being pulled was still there It wasn't oh, maybe I dreamed it maybe it was a part of a dream He was awake And could still feel something pulling on his foot and his heart's just pounding And he's you know flips on the light. There's nothing holding his foot looks under the bed Nothing there, you know understandably freaked out. He packed his stuff and went and got in a hotel He's like no, I'm not playing this game and he was out So that's our first personal experience From tales of the attic of the span Nice Well last but not least get your supernatural hour swag at advanced paranormal calm I am currently wearing a supernatural hour shirt.
