The Conqueror Worm by Edgar Allan Poe | Gothic Poetry and a Theater of Death

A theater full of weeping angels watches humanity perform in Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Conqueror Worm.” The actors chase an elusive phantom while unseen forces move the scenery, trapping the drama in a circle without escape. Then a crawling red shape enters the stage. Henrique Couto reads this macabre poem of mortality, helplessness and the terrible distance between the players and those pulling their strings. Listen as Poe turns an evening at the theater into a compact vision of cosmic horror, where even the audience cannot intervene. Sponsored by HenFlix.com.
