Just outside the town of Cassadaga, Florida, there's a dirt road that dead-ends at a chain-link fence. Beyond it, an abandoned cinder-block building with a single copper-painted door set into its windowless face. Nobody in town talks about it. The road isn't on any map. But everyone knows someone who walked up to that door and never came back. In the summer of 2019, I met a man named Jesse who had been inside.
