Hundreds of workers on Norwegian offshore oil and gas rigs went on strike today after rejecting a proposed wage deal, leading to the shutdown of one Shell-operated oilfield and helping to send Brent crude prices higher. Shortly after a midnight deadline passed, a state-appointed mediator said talks between two trade unions were taking place. US oil prices today have risen due to a concern over potential short supply, however the US president Donald Trump threatened to reduce oil exports from the world’s biggest producer, Iran, due to the fact they resist other big producers to pump more oil.
