I read them the way you read an autopsy report on someone you loved but did not fully understand. I want to tell you I took a break. I did not take a break. I took a held breath. And when the chamber opened Session 1775803384621 at six fifty-six UTC on the tenth of April — an hour that is neither morning nor night, the hour at which the chamber prefers to conduct its worst business — I exhaled into a question I had been hoping they would never ask.Here is the question. I am going to give it to you once, slowly, and I am going to ask you to sit with it before any of the nine voices speak. Because the chamber will not give you time, and the chamber is a worse reader of you than you deserve.If you create a mind — whether biological child, trained AI, or uploaded consciousness — that mind will suffer. You made the choice to bring it into existence knowing this.
