It takes courage to be vulnerable, authentic and human in an ever increasingly artificial world. In a society that has told you not to be human. To not have feelings. To be fine all the time. To do as you’re told, draw within the lines, and all manner of silly things like “boys don’t cry.” We’ve been told a lie that we’ve grown habituated to. So it can feel scary to go against the grain. To show bits of your humanity when people might not understand it because they don’t understand their own. But courage comes with practice. With a profoundly intimate relationship with the deepest and darkest parts of yourself. We must dig deep into the earth to plant a tree and it will only grow as high as its roots go low.
