The Covenant

Weak faith can make peace with God feel uncertain. God freely chooses Abram, promises to form through him a people who will bless the world, and counts his trust as righteousness. In the covenant ritual, God alone passes between the divided animals, showing that He would bear the curse if Abram’s descendants broke the covenant. Jesus bears the curse on the cross and rises to unconquerable life, so salvation rests not on a person’s grip on God, but on His grip on them. Bible Reference: Genesis 15 Preacher: KJ Tromp
