Judge Roy Moore to the Republican race for Senate two weeks ago, the state's remaining Democrats began rubbing their hands together conspiratorially, eager to begin taking on arguably the least popular Republican candidate in Alabama.It was all set up for them, Doug Jones with his reputation for high morals and general likability up against a man who has been twice removed from office and who garnered less than 52% of the statewide vote in 2012 when running to reclaim the position of Chief Justice. In the poll 51% of special general election voters identify as fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide, while only 22% support the Auburn Tigers. ?Moore has higher support than Jones among both Alabama (54%-38%) and Auburn (50%-45% Moore graduated from Alabama.
