-tracks selected by a few of the regulars an thrown together by the slippery 1. ‘Croc’s on a Saturday was one of the first clubs we started goin to on a regular basis’   who would’ve imagined a little nightclub in darkest Essex, becomes the place to be- attracting kids from all over Essex an London….. ‘i remember going on the opening night, tho I think it was just a soul/jazz funk club then? you had to get your tickets in advance. i got up to the door an the bouncer said “what have you come  as, Co Co the clown?” ‘They “refurbed” a nightclub but still kept the live crocodiles in the glass case, would love to have been at that meeting’ ‘…………I think things really started happening around the time of the ‘Glamour Club’ with Gary Turner on a Saturday night ?………. out come the freaks!…. ‘I like to think of the start being more specifically 16/8/80, when DM played the first ever night of ‘The Glamour Club’, not sure what went on in there prior to that Don’t know when the official ending was though? ‘I think that was when everyone started wearing headbands’ ‘they use to play things like- fascist groove thing, memorabillia, bela lugosi’s dead, a certain ratio-shack up, siouxsie’ ‘they always played ‘Perfect Day’ at 2am’ to Cut A Long Story Short – Spandau and probably The Freeze by Spandau as well. Gary definitely played ‘Southern Freeez’ by Freeez once, but he played it really early. i just bought a record player so the vinyl is coming back out soon’ ‘there’s a pic of steve linard there, boy george, spandau an steve strange use to go, I remember there was a coach that use to come down from London’ ‘I remember fad gadget,Pigbag,

Missed the whole of their debut gig but still tell people that Iwas there’. it says here that Culture Club played their 1ST GIG AT CROCS OCT 24TH 81’- ‘I can’t remember ANY bands playin there apart from the Mode boys’. ‘does anyone remember if Theatre of Hate played Croc’s? I’m sure I saw them’. ‘the Rah band – The Crunch (I think that’s the title). Blah Blah Blah – I am in the army, that had one play that I know of but didn’t go down too well. Does anyone else remember seeing them there live? ‘they must have played some Japan – Quiet Life? the Cure – the Forest, Warm leatherette by The Normal.
