The Crooked Lines God Wrote Straight

Gen X has real history. High divorce rates, absent parents,institutions that failed us, people who should have protected us and didn't. Some of that harm was never acknowledged. Some of those injustices were never corrected. And as we've gotten older, a lot of it still hasn't resolved neatly.This episode sits honestly in that reality — and then brings in one of the most profound statements about divine sovereignty in all of Scripture.Genesis 50:20 is Joseph speaking to the brothers who sold him into slavery — after decades of suffering, after the pit and the prison. He doesn't call the harm something other than what it was: "You intended to harm me." And then he says: "But God intended it for good." The episode holds both truths at the same time — the reality of the harm and the reality of God's sovereign purpose — and helps listeners do the same hard work Joseph did in looking back."You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good toaccomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." (Genesis 50:20, NIV) Today's challenge: think of one experience where you were genuinely wronged and write two sentences — what was intended to harm you, and what you can see God produced through it (or, honestly, that you can't see it yet).
