Deputy Carly Jenson became a cop to make a difference, do some good in the world, do something that counted. She didn't join the force to sit behind a desk for a year only to be given the most insipid field assignment imaginable. But she once got in over her head, messed up big time, and now here she is, stuck on a fishing boat at nightfall, bored out of her mind as divers troll the bottom of a dying lake for evidence of a bizarre small-town crime.
