The Curse of Yamashita's Gold

from Matter of Fact: A play on "matter" (physics) and "facts" (news). · host Larry White

In 1971, a Filipino locksmith named Rogelio Roxas discovered a hidden tunnel containing a golden Buddha and numerous crates of gold bars, which were part of a massive treasure looted by the Japanese military during World War II. This discovery turned into a nightmare when the treasure was forcibly seized by the regime of President Ferdinand Marcos, leading to Roxas being imprisoned and tortured after he attempted to seek justice. Despite a landmark legal battle in the United States that initially awarded his estate billions of dollars, Roxas died in poverty without receiving the compensation, while the majority of the legendary 175 treasure sites reportedly remain hidden.
