The Cursed Juniper

In the desolate lands beyond the Black Forest, where the twisted trees scratch the gray sky and the wind carries the laments of the forgotten, there whispers a legend even darker than that of the children's tale, not of the avenging bird, but of the cursed juniper, a bloodthirsty tree fed by grief. Not that of the avenging little bird, but of the cursed juniper, a tree thirsty for blood and nourished by pain. They say the juniper grew not from the tears of a grieving father, but from the curse of the first wife, trapped in the cold earth. Her spirit, twisted by envy and spite, merged with the tree, turning it into a conduit for her anger. It gave no juicy fruit, but black berries like the night, poisonous to body and soul.
