Come here right now, on the Daily. Happy Friday CSW, welcome back to the Daily. I apologize in advance for the use of this low-quality mic on my computer. I'm currently at a lack of my regular Zoom microphone.
In future episodes, you'll hear better quality audio as well as a better quality voice, because I currently have a cold and my stutter is coming back. So again, I apologize in advance for what may come next. Now on to the Daily. In world news, hackers recently tried to hack the well-known social media app Snapchat in an effort to hold everyone's pride hostage.
They found to release embarrassing photos of users in return for money. When the authorities did not respond, they released the photos online. This recent security breach in social networking has brought up, once again, issues of internet privacy. I believe the mod 1 media literacy library class talked about this issue for a while.
If you'd like to continue the discussion about this, I recommend you talk tomorrow in the library. You should be able to recognize dialogue over this. In Ebola news, as more reports of Americans being infected by Ebola grow, tensions for the authorities continue to hang, especially in the airline industry. Fear spreading the virus to other state's script authorities, and in a recent decision made by some airline companies, some have decided to put those who have been working with the virus in both containment and research on the no-fly list.
More on the story as it develops. In tech news, Apple was creating the next big popular tech hype with the new release of their new iPad Air 2 yesterday. The news presented alongside the new iMac apparently shows the iPad would be much slimmer, close in form to the new iPhones. In entertainment news, the entertainment world mourns today as yesterday's news of Elizabeth's painless death takes the Phantom Modern Family by surprise, Pennywise, who was 55, died of natural causes after a short battle with illness.
As you all know, Halloween is coming up according to all the candy slash costume-dependent industries, yet even before we were all aware it was October for some reason. A new Halloween controversy has popped up over any Ebola Halloween costume. Yes, in Ebola-based Halloween costume. Just leave it over for a second.
Continuing. Something gets funny, but mostly gets horrendous and too scary given the circumstances of the current epidemic spreading in West Africa and the fear of spreading even faster. And the fear, which is spreading even faster here in America, sorry, wrong wording. Even though it's too close to being a zombie to evade the cliche of being a zombie.
I need to work on my writing, I'm sorry. Now for CSW News. Recently, Michael Gugnow and Max Pratt were named Commented Scholars in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to them.
In other news, Parent Visiting Day is coming up. For those who don't know, parents visit days when your parents get to come to school and experience a day at CSW. After attending a special assembly, they'll sit in on your classes and meet with their teachers. I believe it's coming up next Friday, I think, correct me if I'm wrong or mistaken.
You know my email. J. Holtzman JHLTZMAN at CSW.org. Now for Sports News.
The CSW field hockey team played another game in their winning streak this Friday, October 10th defeating Dana Hall School in overtime by score of 2-1. My bar scored the first half and the defense led by Emma Roshone in her finest effort today allowed only one goal for the remainder of the game. That 19-gamey provided amazing support as well as Marry Warren to provide who proved to be a versatile player according to Arlo, switching from offense to defense mid-game and proving clearances that reached midfield at times. Not being a sports fan, I don't know what those words mean.
In a 10-minute overtime, I'd send the game Barnes scored her second of the contest to bring home the CSW victory. This was the year's first overtime game and proud of that with a good fight. Good going CSW. Sports News is coming next week.
I hope to be more prompt with these reports. I in fact had another report on sports I want to do today, but I was getting two conflicting sources on one thing. That specific report will be broadcasted next week at some point. Two rights reminders for the community.
First, the fall production, the insect play for short. It has a lot of other names. It will be put on the 23rd through the 25th. Looks like it'll be a lot of fun.
Trust me, it really does. Second, the newest installation at the Garthway is Kiss the Ground, a sculpture exhibit with a very interesting story behind it. Go see it before it's taking down. I'm not sure when it will be, but I'll have a short to sit in on soon.
So, listen in. Yesterday there were three birthdays in the community. If you'd like me to announce a friend's birthday on the show, please email me at jholstman2016 at csw.org or at radiocsw.org. That's radiocsw.org.
That's radiocsw.org at csw.org. No shoutouts or announcements today. It's the same deal with the birthdays. If you want to basically be on the show, you email me if you're interested.
Now, for lunch today, it looks like we're having a seafood gumbo with Cajun rice and veggies topped off with a raspberry chocolate cake. French onion soup and seafood chowder will be the soup bar and a chow main with sweet Thai chili at the faux bar. For dinner, it looks like it's fun food night again accompanied by a baked chicken, wing bar and mac and cheese. The weather for today looks warm with a high of 72 degrees.
Partly cloudy with over 70% humidity. Oh my god. 70% humidity? Wow, drink with some water, people.
You'll be sweating. The wind may soothe that at 12 miles per hour. Raining crescent tonight, which may be harder to see than some nights due to partly cloudy stages of the night. As for the weekend, Saturday will be almost exactly like today, but will be experiencing a drastic drop in temperature on Sunday with a high of 51 and a low of 32.
And heavier cold winds from the north. God guys, weather's out of control. First we have this heat wave and now we have a drop in temperature. I'd say have a sweatshirt ready and it may be warm, please.
All's here, everyone. Fall is here. One more thing before I sign off. I'm looking for fresh new voices on the station.
I, for one, have many great ideas for the show of Needland plus a few in development right now. Though I can write the scripts for you and send them for you to personalize and perform, I would love if you would all start producing your own shows. It's really, really easy. Trust me.
I'm doing it right now. It's super duper, duper easy. If you want to learn how to do it, come to Radio Lab at the Baby Young Lab during our local blog on Wednesdays. Each Wednesday, it's every week.
Come on guys. Come on over. Contact me if you're interested in voicing one of my scripts or one of other people's scripts or even your own. That's all I have time to prepare for today, folks.
Our theme was produced and provided by Nick and Will. This episode was written and performed by me, Josh Will Smith. Join us next for What Fit Process with Diana Bruni. This has been The Daily.
Have a great weekend CSW. This is Radio CSW.
