Good evening and welcome to the Daily with Sillstein on Anchor. I am Sylvia Stein or Sillstein and I wanted to do this other podcast for today to kind of get back to the writing tips part of the podcast but I want to change the format of it. I've changed it several times. I want to get back to how when I first started the podcast I had a lot more people tuning in to the to the show and I don't want to become too repetitive which I do a lot so I wanted it to start by saying you know we're still gonna do the book recommendations and try to share it shed light on a spotlight on a book or author and hopefully get to bring a few of those authors to the show.
My hope is to do that. I would also like to make more connections with you know other authors like for example I don't know if it's possible but try to reach out to Amy Peters who wrote the writer's devotional and maybe send her some questions have her record them come to the show and and be able to tell us you know what inspired her book. I read her book and I really love it but it would be nice to maybe have her come on I'm not saying she is but I'm gonna try to work harder to get you know to have her you know come to the show or at least record some you know some of what she thought about the book and try to do like an interview and put it on the show so you all could listen to it so I'm hoping to do that. I'm also hoping to reach out to other authors as well that I know and that can come and shed light on some of what they're working on whether it's a new book and or a new story on an anthology also editors on editing different things and then also ask them random questions like kind of like what like they do on some of the shows where you see on TV like what happens live you know they ask random questions but these will be about writing and you know and and just kind of not planet just kind of ask and have them come engage and share their advice for us.
There's a lot of wonderful authors out there I would love to have them give their own insight on what you know what it is that inspires them you know what got them to writing and different things and what books they recommend for writing. I know that I've recommended a lot of books but you know why don't you give me your own opinions of what books have helped you or maybe you don't need a book that you use for writing maybe you're just you know like to go with the flow of how you write or you do a lot of reading and that has inspired your writing you know everyone has a different way of doing things and I would like to do more of that on the show of course focus on writing tips but also make it about a kind of you know express some advice for the writer and then maybe have callers send in their questions and I'm gonna request you know people maybe they can send me a direct message of the different questions they have for writing and that pertain to writing and what you know what inspires them or what advice I can give them I would like to also do that I think that would be helpful for the show and like to bring in also editors on editing I have set this a while and I haven't set it up together and I plan to do that I know Mark Anthony Rossi if he's listening he's a great one to bring because he has helped a lot of writers and he has you know he has I think he also started a podcast which he had told me about and I apologize I haven't been able to you know go go talk on his show or and I need to listen to more of his episodes but he is a great author and he helps a lot of authors and writers and he's an editor and you know it would be nice to have him back on of course there's others like my coffee house writers family you know who I you know they're they're also a set group of wonderful people headed by our awesome Jess Knappel or Jessica Knappel and then there's Caitlin Haynes and then there's Alexandra palliate and if I'm just pronouncing your name I apologize Alexandra and all the wonderful editors that we have in our group and writers and like Tracy you know Tracy Hicks and there's there's many we have Gabby Gabby Davis back we have a lot of amazing authors and current ones and new ones and there's so many so many great new writers also that we have like Donna Travato she you know she's a great writer and editor and of course there's other authors that have you know that have written books that of you know that they have out now like Shacity Gaines and she wrote some book and anthology shout out to her she's also a great poet and then there's Diane Tilly who also aka Alexis Craig wonderful author and writer there's my friend Lori Fontaness as well as she's a wonderful author and there's a lot of great authors from Stitch Mouth publications they're also friends but they're also wonderful writers like A.J. Brown, Jeff Brown, James Matthew Byers, Lisa Vasquez who I interned for and through Stitch Mouth publications and I learned a lot from her and all the wonderful people like Jeff Brown, James and also the wonderful you know all the all the wonderful people there and staff and all the the people that that helped us throughout there and if I left anybody out I apologize I thank you all and I learned a lot from working with other authors other editors like you know it's just you learn a lot as you go and my coffee house writer family is one and I'm so happy that I'm gonna be getting an interlude and you'll find out more about that later from you know from a great author and writer through coffee house writers I won't give it away now until he does the interlude but I'm really excited and it'll have it here on on our podcast of the Daily with Silstine on Anger and I'm really excited about that and of course there's so many wonderful people that you know I like to have on and have a conversation but I also think asking for DMs from people for writing tips you know a lot of people do it for different other subjects like wedding advice or or or mothers who are asking for advice for this podcast it would be great to have a discussion with other new writers authors or self publishing versus traditional publishing what are your thoughts so I'm thinking of setting up a topic every week along with the book that we recommend and along with the writing tips and then have people ask questions for the next week and have people engage in the podcast so that way we can kind of make it more of an interactive and more people will call in or share their advice or tips and what they thought and what they didn't so I hope that helps for the podcast I want to make sure that everyone engages to try to help you guys gain more insight as a self published author I've learned so much a lot I still have a lot to learn but you know I learn new things every day and what what I did wrong the first time what I didn't get right what I need to work on and there's so many things we can focus on so you know the topics are endless but first we need to set up a you know questions that we want to share things that we want to talk about so I'm going to leave you know I'm going to start it off by let's ask questions about you know maybe a first draft that you're working on maybe you want advice about you know how to go about starting your draft or maybe already writing your draft or how many how many minutes or how much time should you spend on writing questions like those which are very basic yes but to get you started or maybe you have advice for someone else that may have those questions so I mean we we can you know we can dive into too many subjects but we need to kind of condense it so for now I will say you know to start off with for the Daily Whistles time to start off on the right note for the podcast I want to focus on first drafts what was the first draft that you wrote what was the first draft like or are you working on a first draft and what are the steps you take to go about your draft and I will share my advice and I would like for you to DM me direct message me through here on anchor you can call in or you can message me through my email sillwriter07 at gmail.com I'm also on author Sylvia Stein on Facebook I'm on Twitter under Sylvia underscore Stein zero seven I'm on Instagram through Sylvia Stein and those are the places you can reach out to me to tell me you know what you know how you know about your first draft tell me where you know how you started how do you begin what are the steps you take toward it and share your advice with me those are the things I want to focus on and then we'll bring up more of the books that on writing that we recommend we'll still do that corner of course but I want to like I said be more interactive with you and you know and have you know you ask me questions as well that I can answer for you because I think that'll make the podcast more interesting in the sense that we'll be able to share with each other and it's not just me talking all the time and you know I would like to hear more of what you all have to say about your you know the tips that have helped you what hasn't helped you you know and gain some insight into what you have to share because that's what this whole show is about and I want to hear from other authors if you're listening to this podcast I would love to get your advice on that as well as an author as an editor as as you know what advice has helped you if you want to call in and just make the podcast about that it might be more than happy to have you share and of course share your work with you know with your listeners so they can know more about you do author spotlights definitely do that and I know it sounds like a lot but it's gonna be very exciting I'm really excited to you know put all this together and I'm really looking forward to what we can share with each other and I really hope that you get dive right into the daily with me so Stein and I hope we can bring about and shed more light on the topics that help us new writers or authors or you know any time you write something you know you're your writer and I want to hear what you have to say and what has helped you but we're gonna dive into the questions about your first draft share share questions if you want to send a question or you want to share a tip about your first draft and I'll be more than happy to share your advice or have you call in and have you share with all of us and again this is what I wanted to do today and of course books you recommend but right now I will say the book I recommend right now but you all should be reading is Stephen King on writing I think that's one of the books that stands out as far as you know writing advice that you can have Stephen King on writing so I hope you'll check out Stephen King on writing I hope that you will you know read it and see what you know I love his honesty so I hope you'll check that out and of course of course the writing tip book by Amy Peters the writers devotional it's divided in two weeks if you want to start with that but I'll share more as you all share more with me and I hope that you will call in you feel confident enough to share your ideas and then I can't wait to share the interlude once we have it you'll you'll I hope that you like the intro to the daily with so Stein and I hope that you will tune in and I appreciate you all and I thank you for taking the time to listen to the podcast and I promise you it's only gonna get better I will be back with more episodes I'm gonna try tomorrow but for sure Monday I will do another episode and hopefully Tuesday and try to do another one maybe on Wednesday so we'll see but for sure I'm looking forward to the new format of the daily with so Stein I hope you come on this journey with me and I appreciate you all I hope you have a very good night and thank you for tuning in to the daily with so Stein have a great great night thank you
