Thank you for joining me as I said on the show We had on Wednesday. So a big shout out to him and his books but recapping on the show for That I did on Wednesday.

I was talking about my thriller battered mine, which is hopefully going to be out April of This year if not no later than jr. July of this year But all the works and all the stuff that I'm talking about is copyright It's owned by me. So this time my novel my thriller is all mine the title everything So everything I speak about is my own work and I'm just going to recap on a few things that I said First and foremost, I read a small excerpt I have more to share but I won't do that until the following show for today I just want to recap about you know being in this journey working on this novel as an author You know when you begin a draft you you know You get amazed by all the things that come you know coming to play when you're working on a novel or book or story or You know when you start a short story or you make it a longer version for me This book has meant so much. I started it a while back as I said I started with an idea then when I did national novel month back in I think it was 2014 I started with a story and and this this character And and and the journey that I wanted to show and even though it is a thriller and there's some moments that are going to be very hard And and you know the whole point is to make sure that all of what I'm saying in this story Makes sense to you the reader because You know, I love to tell stories and write them for you all You know when I create a story through my composition book and or paper or paper and pen And I do it old school and then I do my timelines and then you know, it's all for you the reader Of course, I love writing I do it because I love it and I'm an indie author and this story A Sadie story is one that I've been trying to tell for a while and while it's fiction There is a lot of research behind it It has a lot to do with with the different things that Sadie is going through and I had to do my own research on that And and then the characters and you know when we're dealing with characters that are going through something very hard You have to make sure that everything that you're saying makes sense and you're not putting words or adding more than than you should So this story, you know is about a woman going through so much and and her journey and it starts off in a very Very hard predicament for Sadie And then you follow the journey of the story and the characters around her surrounding her from her parents to her husband to all the things that are around her and When when you do when you do something like this it takes a lot and and this has really brought me into a whole new perspective On the type of work I want to do and even though I've written Closure the diary of the broken father and chasing clarity which all have different characters that I can totally See myself relating to or other people that I've known my character Sarah is a big one Um, she's someone that you know, I've known or you know Have been in the same place as her enclosure diary of the broken father in some way or another Um, or you know someone like her garrison james is very relatable Especially with addiction and all the things that he goes through in his story And this is why I did the diary of the broken father to kind of bring kind of a closure Uh, which is another novel but bring kind of a perspective on not just Sarah's story But also garrison and what they both went through because of their loss and what they dealt with same thing with Mia Mia Gerard and chasing clarity my whole point with her story was to show what a young woman endures And and her dream of dance and but the losses and the things that have come You know, they that happened to her and empowering a message and the same token this thriller will empower a message Of I hope hope and and there are many things that are going to layers that the story has That's why it had to be done the correct way Um getting all of the the timeline like I said the stories of characters that are involved and invested in this story It had to be done properly.

So I really hope that you enjoy Um battered mind and as it comes and as I share different things and and different excerpts and different Sort of dynamics between the characters I hope that you'll be more driven into wanting to read it and wanting to learn more about it And you know that my writing process is Composition book paper and pencil then I put it on the computer that I go through a few drafts before I decide This is my final copy also printing out your work printing it out Um if you have a good printer and looking over it also reading it aloud Also, you're able to see and hear your mistakes before you hire an editor You do your own self editing and then send it to a professional editor I recommend that highly get a professional editor get them to look at everything interact with the editor I think that's important and make sure that your story comes together Now, you know, I really hope that you know in these few conversations that I've given you about my work and what's coming and The process that you're able to share your own thoughts and your own works of what you're working on or perhaps you might Maybe this sparked an idea to get you to write for me. Battered mind is something I've written for a while I've written a little bit here is shifted in direction and I'll share more about that if we get closer to releasing it Um, it's got to be where you see the end of the story And then you know, for me, it went back a lot people say I write forward I wrote it in the back like what was gonna happen at the end to the beginning You know, I did different shifts with it and and it depends on you the author the writer what your process is But my story came kind of like when you see on a show like if you watch uh different shows on tv Uh, you'll see how to get away with murder on a bc with riola davis You notice a lot of the a lot of them go back to things that have already happened And then they go back to like a flashback and then present tense and then they keep going back And then there's other different things like this is us It deals with different timelines as far as the time like the past When they were the people in the story are smaller and they're like now or in between also or even in the future Every show. Well, that's the same thing I that I do with my stories I I go to the like the end and then take it all the way to the beginning so that way I can really set up my story But everybody's different.
