The Dashboard Lights: How to Make Your Marriage Last

from Crosspoint Bangor Messages

Marriage, like a vehicle built to last, needs regular check-ups. In this episode, we walk through key “dashboard lights” that may signal areas of your marriage that need attention before a breakdown happens. With your spouse, work through each “dashboard light” together. Read the Scripture, discuss the questions honestly, and decide on one or two action steps you can take this week. Communication – “Check Engine” Light Scripture: Ephesians 5:31 How would you describe the current “engine health” of our communication? When conflict arises, what do we typically do — withdraw, argue, or listen? What helps you feel heard and understood? What action steps can you take this week? Finances – “Low Fuel” Light Scripture: Matthew 6:21 Do we both know where our money is going each month? How do we currently pray (or not pray) about financial decisions? What does stewarding money as one look like for us? What action steps can you take this week? Intimacy – “Low Oil Pressure” Light Scripture: Ephesians 5:31 How connected do we feel emotionally, spiritually, and physically right now? What drains our intimacy most — stress, schedule, or neglect? How can we be more intentional in expressing love this week? What action steps can you take this week? Work–Life Balance – “Overheating” Light Scripture: Psalm 46:10 Do our schedules reflect our priorities? What part of our life feels overheated right now? How could we incorporate more rest or a Sabbath rhythm? What action steps can you take this week? Spiritual Connection – “Battery” Light Scripture: Ecclesiastes 4:12 How connected do we feel to God as a couple? When was the last time we prayed or served together? What could re-energize our spiritual life? What action steps can you take this week? Parenting & Family Unity – “Tire Pressure” Light Scripture: Proverbs 22:6 Are we united in how we lead and discipline our children? What are the top three values we want our family to live by? How can we model unity and grace for our kids? What action steps can you take this week? Emotional Health – “Stability Control” Light Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7 How are we each doing emotionally — really? What makes it difficult to open up or be vulnerable with each other? How can we better support one another’s emotional and mental health? What action steps can you take this week? Routine Maintenance Plan Daily: What is one thing we can pray about or thank God for together today? Weekly: How can we spend intentional “us time” this week? Monthly: What area of our marriage needs attention or gratitude right now? Yearly: When can we plan a retreat or intentional time away together?

Women with Dyslexia Podcast: Living the Gospel with Power Hope B This podcast is designed for women with dyslexia who believe that God can do something new. The Apostle Paul says that we are transformed by renewing our minds to do what pleases the LORD, which is His will. When our minds are renewed (neuroscientists call this neuroplasticity), we are transformed. This podcast will contain short biblical messages designed to replace our old negative thinking with the truth found in God’s word. It is devoted to encouraging and inspiring adult women with dyslexia by listening to biblical truths that will uplift and challenge them to find a place for dyslexia in their lives and let Christ take center stage of their lives. To benefit from these short yet powerful messages, I recommend making these podcasts part of your morning and evening time with the Lord. Thank you for joining me.
