The David Hunter Perspective - 2022-08-31

from The Rhett Palmer Show · host Rhett Palmer

Read on for today's agenda below prepared by David (thank you very much). - Retired US Diplomat to 5 different nations  David Hunter shares his knowledge, passion, interest, and experience.1)  IAEA Team Will Inspect Zaporizhnia Nuclear Power Plant?:   The IAEA was for months in negotiation with Russia and Ukraine to allow it to do an inspection of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, which is in middle of active fighting right now.   Missiles and artillery have struck the plant, and there is a real fear it may lead to a nuclear leak or worse, a reactor meltdown.  US officials are now suggesting the facility be shut down, and declared a demilitarized zone. Will Russia agree?    What is likely to happen? 2) Europeans Facing A Long Cold Winter?:  With the recent cut-off of Russian natural gas, countries in Europe are scrambling to secure replacement energy sources this winter.   Already, the price of electricity has shot up.  The wholesale price of electricity in England is five times higher than it was last August.  Will  governments be able to control  rising energy  prices, and ensure stable supplies, so economies don't tank and spark civil unrest? Is this part of Putin's hybrid war against democracies?3) Was A Beautiful Russian Spy Hiding In the Woodwork at Mar a Lago?:   Remember Anna Chapman, head of the Russia 'illegal' spy ring in US in  2010? While everyone is now focused on Donald Trump's odd storage of Top Secret government documents in his Mar a Lago club's basement, nobody  noticed that a Russian spy infiltrated his Palm Beach club in 2021 and 2022 many times. She even posing on the golf course for a photo with former Pres. Trump and Sen. Lindsay Graham.   Did we have another massive security breach?4)  Pakistan Experiences Massive Monsoon Flooding:  The entire country, but particularly Sind Provence in the South, has been hit with terrible rain and flooding.  Over 1,100 people are reported killed, and millions of homes have been destroyed. Farmland and livestock are lost.   Pakistan claims this is from global warming and the rich Western nations should help pay damages.  The UN Chief calls these floods a 'climate catastrophe'.  What do you think?  Should the US and other rich developed countries pay something? Support the show
