The Day Qantas Went To Disaster #329
from THE STEPHEN SHIELS RADIO SHOW · host Stephen Shiels
On October 15, 2009, one day after Qantas Flight QF868 from London to Sydney arrived in Sydney, Australia, the aircraft experienced a catastrophic engine failure that resulted in the loss of the aircraft and all on board. In the days and weeks following the event, Qantas and the Australian government responded with a level of professionalism and efficiency that was exemplary.Qantas CEO Alan Joyce released a scathing statement about the event that was later published in the Australian newspapers. He described the failure as an "absolutely devastating day" and called for a full and thorough investigation into the cause of the engine failure. Since the cut back and staff shortage customers are very angry at Alan Joyce for very bad customer service.
