The Dead Sea Scrolls – The Hidden Scriptures

The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of ancient Jewish manuscripts discovered in caves near Qumran by the Dead Sea between 1947 and 1956. They consist of approximately 900 texts, including books of the Bible, apocryphal writings, laws, and hymns, written primarily in Hebrew and Aramaic, with some in Greek. The discoveries contain the oldest known versions of many books of the Old Testament, as well as unique texts such as the War Scroll and the Copper Scroll. The scrolls are believed to have belonged to a Jewish sect, most likely the Essenes, who hid them during the Roman siege of Judea.
