Welcome to what I can only call the Tuesday show. Because there's no real rhyme or reason to this when we just had an idea of it. And we're like, let's go for it. I'm sure one of the listeners will write us and they'll give us what is probably a better title than we could, than either of us could ever come up with.
I'm counting on it. That said, that being said, should we pitch something? Yeah. Well, our idea was to call it because we're doing it.
We're talking about a TV pilot of a Stephen King adaptation. We have not covered on this program before. Right. Technically the first two episodes, but they add up to about one full story.
Yes. So because it's a pilot, there was some talk about incorporating all what's his name? I'm playing out his name. The actor.
Well, of course, we're talking about Harrison Ford. Amazing pilot. I would say if not exciting, I mean, if not amazing, exciting. Definitely exciting.
A guy can't keep a plane in the air this guy. Miguel Ferrer, star of the Nightflyer. Yes. Oh, that's right.
We were going to call it the Nightflyers. The Nightflyers. Yeah. I guess because we're pilots or we're observing pilots.
Yeah. I mean, it's a bit sweaty. We're carrying pilots. The Nightflyers, the plane, right?
Well, I think. No, the wamp here is the Nightflyer. Yeah, he is the Nightflyer. I don't know what we are in this.
No, honestly, it's, we were talking about it before we started. It's King me and Jason. We could say I'm with King me. Dan looks like a light bulb just went off, and he's going to say it.
What is it down? Well, it's half an idea. Can we do something with like, like, Salem's lot but lot is short for pilot? Yeah.
Yeah. Can we do something with that? Yeah. When I post this, I'll put like, I'll put Salem's pilot, but I'll put PI in parentheses.
And then I'll put a lot outside of that. And then I'll do the dead zone. And then we'll be removed from the Apple Podcast story. Yeah.
We'll have anybody else there. Just like, you're taking this podcast like too far. Yeah, you will. Unfortunately, you accidentally created a zodiac style cipher.
And we had to remove your show. Right. No, we are going to talk about a pilot for a TV show, a USA original, our first USA original. Is it?
That doesn't sound right. It feels like. Is it not a USA original? Oh, no, no.
It's probably a USA original. I'm just saying, I feel like one of the other mini series that we've done feels like it should have been a USA original. Yeah, it's kind of shocking. We've definitely done like, we've done a sci-fi original, probably, right?
Ooh. I don't know. I mean, you got King. I don't know how much sci-fi he's getting into.
He's dipping his little toesies into, you know? This guy, I mean, he does have all his toes and different pies. That's true. Which, by the way, pie, hey, pie lots.
Pie. Yep. Fylots. And there you have it.
Well, now that's that. Come full circle, which is, do I need to say it? The shape of a pie. There are patterns all around us.
If you only would open your third eye. Hey, that eye rhymes with pie. Go on. And now you're beginning to understand.
All you have to do is say a thing twice. Make like two seemingly unconnected connections. And that's the new name of the show. I think we could be a Q&A podcast by minute 30 of the rate we're going to win.
Yeah, I think if we continue to see patterns the way that we're at this rate, yeah. Why all of the answers to COVID-19 and who stole the election in 2020 are in this episode of the Dense Zone. That's right. I'm going to trade out my blue baseball cap for a white hat.
Deep State. So we opened on a certain song called The Bad Touch. By One Bloodhound Gang. One Bloodhound Gang.
And just because there's one gang doesn't mean there's not a bunch of guys around on the slide. Oh shit, that's a shit ton of guys. That's right. It's a collective.
It's a posse. Yeah, it's a posse. It's a bit of a posse. So what's the significance of that song?
I mean, to me or to you or to you? Yeah, to you as a young man coming of age. Coming of age, I saw the video and I thought it was very funny. And I bought the album.
And I thought the album was very funny in the way that talking about boobs and fun and funny when you're 15, 16. And I want to go on record as saying, that's not the kind of 15-year-old I was. No, you were much more intellectual. I was very reverent of all bodies, really.
Right. Yeah, yeah. An artist's eye. That's how I moved to the world.
An artist's eye. Right. I mean, yeah. I looked at a person and I thought, I wonder what they look like in case in a block of marble.
So you wanted to put them in a block of marble. You wanted to imprison them in marble. It's more of a conceptual piece. But yes.
Dan, are you your bloodhound gang fan? Of course, I thought that this was the funniest shit I ever heard in my life. Didn't understand nothing except for, of course, put your hand down my pants and I bet you'll feel nuts. Right.
That's funny. Right. And now, the Wikipedia article for the Bloodhound Gang says that they are a band known for crude lyrics, which are full of sexual innuendos. I wouldn't call that even innuendos.
I would just call that gross thing to say. Touch my testicles and you will feel them. Yeah, yeah. Someone's like a two-life crew or something, where it's like they have the filthiest, dirtiest album ever.
And there's no innuendos to it. It's just like every song is just like, hey, let me see your tits. And I want some cozy or whatever. Or whatever.
Yeah, no. These guys, hilarious. Yeah, of course. You know, also, I think I probably mentioned this on the show at some point.
But my group of friends was really into Haggard. The, oh my god. Do you remember Haggard? Yeah, the Bama Jaira movie.
Yeah, the Bama Jaira. And also like a bunch of the jacket. Yeah, yeah, like Ryan Dunn, R&B. R&B.
That guy. Rake Young, Brandon D. Camillo is one of my favorite characters in all of cinema. Falcon Falcone, whose whole thing in that movie is that he wants to invent a reverse microwave that makes food really cold really fast.
That's actually pretty funny. It's pretty good, right? Yeah. Yeah.
I've never seen Haggard in its entirety. Now, as a 40-year-old man, should I go back? Should I try and watch it? Do you think?
I think so. Yeah. Yeah. I think just to see what's going on over there.
I think it might be like, the kids are not all right. The same age as me kids are not all right. But I am remembering there's a part where someone talks about their version of the American pie thing of third base is like War Mapple Pie. And then he fucks the pie.
It's someone being like the hottest thing ever is jerking off to your own ass. And then later someone jerks off to their own ass. Well, this movie actually sounds hilarious. It's maybe, I don't know.
I thought it was funny when I was 11, 12, whatever. I mean, that is my, that's still my sense of humor. Right. Like, I feel like once you hit your, once you get out of your 20s, you just start regressing.
Yeah, totally. You, your Benjamin Button ass might be good to go. Yeah. Everything that I thought was funny when I was 12 is funny again.
Amen. It's a problem. Yeah. So that's the bad touch.
That's the bloodhound gang. Yeah. But enough about that bloodhound gang. What is the bloodhound gang in a scrotum?
I'm not shell. Sure. I got it. Yes.
OK. But what is this bloodhound gang? Right. You and me talking about it.
What's this bad to hound gang up to? What's this was this pack old bitch dog getting up to? Well, what's the worst touch in all of Stephen King? The dead zone.
Yeah, maybe the dead zone for our purposes. Yeah. Oh, I guess the man who wouldn't shake hands is probably the worst. That's probably the worst.
Yeah. That one. But what if a handshake wanted? That one.
Oh, man. Yeah. So we obviously talked about the dead zone, the film. Yes.
The Cronenberg film. Right. We talked about that in, oh, I don't know, 2015. Yes.
Donald Trump was a reality television star. You won. Brinio, Brinio, Brinio, Brinio. Greetings.
Yeah, yeah, that's the past. OK. But we never talked about the dead zone, the TV show. Right.
Why is this? Because there's six seasons of it. We were like, no. Yeah, yeah, six seasons.
We're not going to fuck with that. We also started this podcast by explicitly saying we're not going to talk about the TV shows. Like you're under the domes, like your dead zones, your haven't. I guess we could have called this particular detour zones and domes.
We could have. Because probably we'll do the dome pilot. If we do the under the dome pilot, I feel like we have to call it like getting dome or something like that. Something really fast.
Don't you think that's beneath us? No. Well, no, I don't. What is it?
Because I said jerk off to your own ass. Is that why? Is that why? Oh, you can be so judgmental.
Well, whatever we call it, we're going to talk about. We watched the first two episodes of the Dead Zone USA original series starring Anthony Michael Hall, except he doesn't look like Anthony Michael Hall anymore. Now he looks different. Yeah, it's so Anthony Michael Hall's whole transformation.
It's just so crazy to me. Like he was in those John, he was in the 80s, and he looked a certain way. And then he was in, and he was a teenager in all of those movies. In reality, he was only about maybe 15 to 18 when he made all of those.
And then in Edward Scissorhands, he's like this beefy guy who kicks ass. He's like a bully. He's like a fucking asshole. And he just wants to beat up Edward Scissorhands for having Scissorhands.
He didn't ask for Scissorhands. I must destroy him. He's cutting everybody's hair, cutting everybody's headches. I don't like it.
The thing is, though, he basically looks like the timeline of the way he looks, because he looks like a different person at all three things. All stages. It's very strange. But it's almost as though he was always wearing a football helmet.
You know how that'll reshape guys' skulls sometimes? Oh, yeah, just sometimes. But go on. Reshape the brain in the skull.
Because his forehead seems to just get more and more pronounced over time. Right. And now he's, I don't know what his actual hairline is like. But he's like a guy who keeps his hair extremely short.
He just does this overall buzz over his whole head. In the most recent Halloween movies, he's in those. And he's just so weird. He looks like a different fucking guy at all time.
Every 10 years. He's like Bob Dylan. He just reinvends himself every fucking 10 years. Every 10 years, he's like, you know what?
I'm coming out. I'm more of a Christian now. This is my Christian era. So I think we can all agree that Anthony Michael Hall is the Bob Dylan of Act.
Yeah, I think so. It's so people tell you, Kate Blanchett is the Bob Dylan of Acting. Well, that's true. She doesn't have a movie.
Here we are. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of any other actors who are in that. Oh, man. Who else?
Fucking Richard Boy is in that movie. Right. Who else? The guy, the voice of Paddington, is he in it?
Or is it just a different British young man? I don't know. That's a good question. But you're right.
There are nine actors that play Bob Dylan in that movie. And I can only name two of them. Christian Bale. Oh, that's it.
Is he a Dylan? He plays a Christian era? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The religious Dylan. That's right. You think they cast him because of his name? Yeah, of course.
You know what would be hilarious to make him the Christian Bob Dylan. Ben Wishaw, who is the voice of Paddington? Is he in it? He is.
He is a Dylan. OK. Heath Ledger, also R&P. I don't recall that.
It's impossible to remember that movie, I think. It is. I mean, the movie is just like this fucking dream that just passes you by. Yeah.
And I've heard real Dylan heads. I don't like this movie. I don't know why. That's above my paper.
They do or don't. They do not. Yeah. I don't know why.
I don't care. Yeah. About my paper. Yeah.
What did I just say? Right. Anyway, Anthony Michael Hall, he's in his Christian era. In this.
He does. You know, we're joking. But I would say he looks the most like an actor in a Christian movie that gets like a what's that movie that just came out the Q&ON movie. Oh, sound of freedom.
Yeah, like a Mormon movie that gets some crossover success. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. Where like it has a somewhat recognizable cast.
And you're like, oh, is this like an actual movie? And then you get tricked in and like, oh, no, it's about like some kid who says he went to heaven. But then, you know, years later we find out that he's lying. OK, first of all, yeah, every Christian crossover hit is based on a lie.
Yes. Well, I'll start there because set of freedom. That guy's also a liar. Yeah.
Well, yeah, he's a big fat liar. He's a big fat liar. Yeah, what was this movie starring Paul Giamatti? Because this guy's a big fat liar.
Yeah. It's like a there's like one recognizable actor who gets like bow-fingered into it. Like isn't like Mirasor Vino? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Or whatever name is. Yeah, she's like in there. Yeah. Although Anthony Michael Hall, he's in this thing on purpose.
And he is giving it his all to varying degrees of success. Anthony Michael, given it your all, given it his whole. Dead. He's it's 83 or four episodes, something like that.
That's right. And that's USA man. They're they make their own rules. Yeah, I mean, they right.
What was that show like like, like, that joke? Yeah. Wasn't what's the one with Bruce Campbell? Oh, no notice.
Another one like suits. Just like this. This is all to say nothing of monk. Right.
You got monk. It's a jungle out there. It's a jungle of like, yeah, one word, detective sort of silly procedural. I can't speak today.
See duos. Maybe this is a baby. I'm just a wittle baby. Oh, sure.
It's more offensive than anything we've said so far. OK, so the dead zone. Mostly a faithful retelling of the story as we understand it in these first couple episodes. Yeah, right.
I was a little surprised. I was like comparing it to I was just like looking at the Wikipedia for the movie and the novel and being like, oh, it's pretty spot on. Yeah. We watched the first two episodes.
We talked about it before we watched it, because it was like the first two episodes feel like a complete sort of story. There's obviously it's a series of keeps going. Yada, but this felt like a nice endpoint. I feel like the end of episode one is like nothing.
You just totally. You just end with like the doctor, like finding his mother. And you're like, oh, this is all right. Yeah.
I don't know if you're not going to hook anybody in with that, but like, all right. Yeah, it's like a it's a use of his power is that doesn't really super come back. No. You know, that's not how he's solving his many mysteries.
Right. That also was like, I'm actually not sure if it's in the book, but in the film, there is like a similar beat to that that I had totally forgotten about. It wasn't like a it wasn't a Vietnamese doctor with his mother. It was something else.
It was a Jewish doctor's mother. All of us survivors sometimes? Yes. Yes.
Pretty wild thing to need to keep. Sure. In both cases, especially because like so much, right. Like you said, like so much of the first episode is about that.
They dedicate a lot of time to it. Yeah. But at least we get to see Anthony, Michael Hall speaking Vietnamese. Yeah, at least we get to see that.
At least we get to see that. So this seems like, sorry, this seems like the most humiliating kind of acting in the world. Not the speaking Vietnamese. Although I do think having to speak a language you don't speak, especially one that's so far removed from the language.
Yeah. I would feel so uncomfortable having to do that. But it's also all the like the reaching out, the like, you know, just like the hand stuff. Yeah, yeah.
Very fixed and post kind of, you know, it's like green screen acting, but without a green screen. We just need some shots of you going like wide eyed. And maybe like, you know, tensing up. Now, can you say, now can you say Jimmy cracked corn?
And I don't care. But can you do it like a street guy? Oh boy, Jimmy cracked corn. And I don't care.
He says it like he's flipping a quarter. Oh, right. He's got toothpaste, he's flipping a quarter. Yeah, like the coin boys that we've been.
Don't get me started on the coin boys. This new one. They live by the coin, they die by the coin. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This new trend of high school tufts, just flipping coins. Look, obviously the world is crumbling. But what a funny thing to pass by on the way down. Right.
That there's a sofa context. Yeah. I had been exposed to a TikTok video, which is always hard for me. But there's like a teacher talking about a group of kids in her school who called themselves the coin boys, who were basically every decision they made in their lives, they would flip a coin to determine what they would do.
Right. Anton's your core style. Well, yeah, I was going to say like the Batman villain toothpaste. But yes.
Same thing. Yeah, yeah. And they say they describe themselves as living by the coin and dying by the coin. That's very funny.
Could you imagine a kid just right in front of you? My favorite part of the video is when he flips the coin to decide whether or not he's going to do his assignment. He's he will, tells you won't. And teacher says, and it landed on heads.
Thank god for that. That's really good. Even in retelling the story about how your sniveling students don't respect you at all, you can't help but be like, will you feel the power of the coin? Yeah, yeah.
Thank you. You buy into it. The coin fell in my favor. Oh my god.
And the coin boys smiled upon me that day. And I'll tell you what, give me coin boys over Kia boys any day. That will, yeah. It's rotten hoodlums.
All right. We got to get into the dead zone. Oh, yeah. Our mini episode.
Yeah, yeah. Let's take a small break and we'll be right back. OK.
