The Deadliest Addiction (Coronavirus and Our Mental Health)
from ThinkTech Hawaii · host Jay Fidell
Getting out of Tobacco Prison. The host for this show is Ken Burtness. The guest is Toni Baran. The Coronavirus Pandemic has clogged hospitals and ICUs, and kept many people who needed treatment for other problems away from getting help, medical health and psychological help. Addicts need both. During the first year of the pandemic, tobacco sales increased for the first time in 20 years, up 14%. At the same time, the number of people trying to quit and the number people who did not even try to quit declined significantly for the first time since 2011. Drug addiction is a killer and Tobacco kills more people every year than all the other drugs combined. Adding Covid to Tobacco makes these two deadly partners.
