The oldest continuously-operating Red Lobster in the United States, located on North Monroe Street in Tallahassee, Florida, is permanently closing its doors on Sunday, May 24, 2026, ending a 56-year run. Throughout its history, the location was defined by dedicated staff, such as head grillmaster Horace Williams, who worked in the same kitchen for over 40 years and took immense pride in preparing up to 150 meals a day.The shutdown comes amid widespread financial turmoil for the seafood chain, which was founded in 1968 in Lakeland, Florida.
