The Dementia Roadmap- Think Differently Dementia

Kim Hegwood is joined today with Lizette Cloete to talk about a different way of approaching dementia care. Lizette graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1992 as an Occupational Therapist. She is the owner of “Think Different” Dementia, a company she established to teach people to think differently about dementia, emphasizing education about dementia, how to care for loved ones with dementia in the home while also understanding common behaviors in dementia. The goal is to promote aging in place and allowing people to “live life to the fullest”, despite dementia. As a diplomat’s daughter, she has lived in 4 different countries and in 11 different States, giving her a unique perspective on life and living (and she has her “own” accent!). She currently calls Greenwood, SC home where she lives with her husband and daughter. A few of the questions Kim will be asking Ms. Cloete include: 1.Why is staging dementia so important? 2.
