Luke talks with Daniel Lazare about Trump’s return to the White House. Dan is the author of The Frozen Republic, The Velvet Coup, and America’s Undeclared War. He has written several articles for the Democratic Constitution Blog, including two in the lead-up to the election (here and here) and one immediately after (here). Lucas and Luke previously talked with Dan in May. In his second interview, Dan describes Trump’s victory as momentous. Never before has a president consolidated as much power as Trump and the Republicans. Still, it’s not all doom and gloom. In fact, democratic republicans have reason to be optimistic as the days of constitutional reverence seem to be behind us.
