The Demon vs. The Berean

from Rabbit Holes & Meditations - Christian Bible Study · host gregenewell

This was such an odd request that we had to pay attention. The request was to act in response to the main character - the Demon - in the movie Nefarious. Nefarious is a psychological horror film centered entirely on an intense conversation between an atheist psychiatrist, Dr. James Martin, and a convicted serial killer, Edward Wayne Brady, in a prison on the day of Edward's scheduled execution. The psychiatrist must determine Edward's sanity to decide if the execution can proceed, but Edward claims to be possessed by a powerful demon named "Nefarious". Throughout their dialogue, the demon manipulates the doctor, challenging his worldview and predicting he will commit three murders by the day's end, ultimately leading Dr. Martin to question his own beliefs about good, evil, and the supernatural. The film is largely an exploration of spiritual warfare and a faith-based commentary on modern social issues, culminating in a twist ending where the demon's influence extends beyond the execution chamber.  We pick up in the scene where the demon is talking to the psychologist. Then we asked our Berean Filter to listen and to respond.  Notes for The Demon vs. The Berean Episode Link: https://www.rabbitholesandmeditations.com/the-demon-vs-the-berean/    NOTE: We end the podcast with a critique of the movie. I want to point out that the psychologist in the movie is an avowed atheist. So, by its nature, the movie cannot present the biblical arguments to the demons diatribe. That's why we decided to post this. There are answers in scripture that the movie does raise. Our Berean filter did a good job at bringing those issues to the surface and knocking them down one after another.
