The Destroyer Destroyed

In this sermon on Hebrews 2:14, Charles Spurgeon teaches that death is Satan's greatest work and masterpiece (besides hell itself), brought into the world through sin when he tempted Eve, and the devil uses death as his best opportunity to attack Christians when they're weak and dying with fears, doubts about resurrection, memories of past sins, and worries about failing at the last moment. However, Spurgeon explains that Jesus completely destroyed Satan's power over death by dying and rising again—proving death can't annihilate us, showing our sins are paid for by His sacrifice, and demonstrating that God's power (not ours) will preserve us through death—so Christians can face death without fear, knowing they're safe in Christ, while unbelievers should be terrified of dying without a Savior and need to believe in Jesus immediately.Sermon delivered on December 6, 1857.
