The Dialog of Catherine of Siena — communion with God to guide the spiritual life, cultivate virtue, and obey God empowered by divine love

The Dialog of Catherine of Siena is a seminal work of Christian mysticism that records a spiritual exchange between the Eternal Father and a human soul, represented by the saint herself. Dictated during a state of ecstatic prayer in the late 14th century, the text serves as a profound guide to the spiritual life, emphasizing the cultivation of virtue, the necessity of obedience, and the power of divine love. Through rich analogies and metaphors, such as the image of Christ as a Bridge connecting Earth to Heaven, the source illustrates the path from imperfect to perfect love. The provided excerpts detail various "treatises" on Divine Providence, discretion, prayer, and clerical conduct, offering both a theological framework and practical advice for the faithful. Ultimately, the work portrays the human soul as being created in the image of God, finding its true satisfaction only through union with the Divine. This podcast was created with the assistance of AI tools.
