The Difference Between Artists Who "Make It" and Those Who Don't

from Creative Overflow with Jenny Kiehn · host Jennykiehn

What's the difference between the artists who "make it" in business and the ones who don't? They keep showing up. That's it. They keep showing up day after day for their art and their business. They keep trying, they keep iterating, and they don't give up. This wisdom was first said to me by Court McCracken, a friend of mine and the author of Art Nurture: The Simple Guide to Cultivating Your Creativity, which is a fabulous book by the way. As I've grown as an artist, I realize she is absolutely right. The only difference between artists who succeed and those who don't is the ones who succeed keep showing up.The beauty of this is it's achievable. We can each make the decision to keep showing up right now. It's absolutely within our self control. Whether or not you succeed is a decision you make inside of yourself. Will I make this work or not? The outside world doesn't determine it. You do.But the other aspect of it that makes it a million times easier is your self talk. When you are kind and supportive of yourself all this is 95% easier. But how do you accomplish that? In the episode, I give you my best tips and tricks and even give you a couple of written exercises to get you started. You can do this. I believe in you.If you enjoy the episode, it would be amazing if you could leave a review! I literally celebrate every time I get a new one, so this would make my day. If you take a screenshot of it and email it to [email protected] then I'll be delighted to invite you to my next free coaching class.
