The Dip That Changed Everything | Naaman | Pastor Joaquin Pardo

from New City Church · host Pastor Joaquin Pardo

This weekend Pastor Joaquin Pardo continued our NAAMAN series with a message about the power of obedience!2 Kings 5:14So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.Naaman’s story isn’t just about healing— it’s about the process of obedience. It shows us the very places we often struggle when God asks us to trust Him.1) The obstacles to your obedience.Naaman showed up with horses, money, and status, but none of those opened the door to healing. Pride and anger were his obstacles. Like Naaman, we too have obstacles to our obedience. Romans 12:1“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”The only way to overcome these obstacles is to live fully surrendered to make your whole life your worship unto the Lord.2) Unmet expectations discourage obedience.Naaman thought Elisha would come out, wave his hand, and put on a show. Instead, the instructions were ordinary: “Go wash in the Jordan.” Expectation, left unaligned with God’s reality, becomes bitterness. If we’re not careful, what we think should happen may get in the way of us seeing God at work.3) Obedience requires humility. It wasn’t Naaman’s status, money, or power that brought healing. It was his willingness to humble himself and follow God’s instructions.4) Obedience is strengthened by community.Naaman had people close enough to challenge him when he wanted to give up. We don’t have servants today we have something better: real friends who care for us, see us, and call us higher.5) Obedience brings you to the place where God’s process meets God’s promise.Naaman dipped once, twice… six times and nothing changed. Haven’t we all been there? We show up, trust God’s Word, but still see the residue of our brokenness. And we’re tempted to quit. But on the seventh dip God’s number of completion, Naaman came out healed, humbled, and transformed. And the same is true for us: obedience doesn’t just unlock a miracle, it transforms who we are.
