The iconic horror film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was inspired by the gruesome true story of Ed Gein, a Wisconsin handyman who dug up corpses and murdered two women. In 1957, police entered his home and found a house of horrors: chairs, lampshades, and masks made from human skin. He kept body parts in his kitchen and a belt made from human nipples. Gein's crimes also inspired Psycho and The Silence of the Lambs, making him the blueprint for some of cinema's most terrifying monsters. This is the disturbing true story behind the Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
