The Divine Trial (Psalm 82)

In this message from Psalm 82, we are reminded that God alone is the true and just Judge, ruling over all the earth with righteousness. The psalm pictures a cosmic courtroom where the Lord pronounces judgment, not only against false gods and idols, but also against every form of injustice in our world. As His people, we are called to reflect His heart—defending the weak, caring for the fatherless, standing up for the afflicted, and living with integrity in our daily lives. This passage is both a warning and a comfort: God sees injustice, He does not ignore it, and His justice will prevail. Yet it is also a calling, inviting us to live as a people of justice in the places God has planted us. May this time in God’s Word encourage you to trust His perfect justice, and to walk humbly in it today.
