In 1577, during a storm that swallowed the sky over East Anglia, something entered a church.It did not claw its way in. It did not crash through stone.The door opened.Witnesses would later describe a “horrible shaped thing.” A great black dog moving calmly down the aisle as lightning struck and thunder shook the walls. Two parishioners were dead before the storm passed. The doors were damaged. The building stood.But the boundary did not.In this episode, we return to the storm at Bungay and Blythburgh — and to the legend that followed. Black Shuck. A name given later. A shape pulled from older whispers of a black dog seen on lonely roads and in churchyards, watching from the edge.It did not rampage. It did not linger.It crossed.The Dog at the Threshold examines what happens when a space meant to protect you is publicly tested.
