The Doomed City by Edgar Allan Poe | Gothic Poetry in a City Ruled by Death

Death watches from a throne above a silent city in Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Doomed City.” Towers, open graves and deserted palaces stand beside motionless water, illuminated by an eerie light rising from the sea. Nothing stirs beneath the darkened sky—until the stillness begins to break. Henrique Couto reads this early Poe poem, drawing you into a landscape where architecture and mortality become inseparable. A brief, atmospheric journey into Gothic poetry, strange waters and the fear of a world abandoned by the living. Sponsored by HenFlix.com.
