In this paper, Hamilton defends the four year term that is to be held by the executive magistrate (President).  Hamilton cites Great Britain as an example that’s legislature has been able to operate under an aristocratic/monarchical form of government with lifetime terms in the executive position.  Hamilton defends the four year term for reasons of stability and a due accountability to the people that will hold the President in good behavior.
