The Eagle Warriors of Tenochtitlan: Aztec Elite Troops

In this episode of Fexingo History, Lucas and Luna take a closer look at the Eagle Warriors, the Aztec elite soldiers who fought alongside the Jaguar Warriors as the shock troops of the Mexica Empire. They trace the path from the humblest commoner to the ranks of the cuāuhocēlōtl, the 'Eagle-Jaguar' warriors who had captured at least four enemy prisoners. They explore the intense training in the calmecac and telpochcalli schools, the fierce battlefield initiation, and the social privileges that came with the feathered war suit — from wearing cotton armor to dining at the emperor's table. They also reveal how the Eagle Warriors became a political force, with leaders like tlacochcalcatl and tlacateccatl advising the huey tlatoani. Along the way, they touch on the macuahuitl, the deadly obsidian-edged sword, and the flower wars that provided a steady supply of battle captives. Finally, they reflect on how these warriors fell in the siege of Tenochtitlan, fighting not just for empire but for the very survival of their world. #EagleWarriors #AztecEmpire #Tenochtitlan #Mexica #Cuauhocelotl #Mesoamerica #AztecMilitary #Macuahuitl #FlowerWars #HueyTlatoani #Tlacochcalcatl #Tlacateccatl #AztecWarriors #ObsidianWeapons #ConquestOfMexico #AztecHistory #History #FexingoHistory Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
