The nation of Israel went into exile to the nations for not following the Torah. The gentile nations have ruled over Israel while they have lived in exile: first they were ruled by Babylon, then the Medo-Persians, then Greece and then Rome. In the Day of the Lord, the land of Israel will be divided and the city of Jerusalem will be divided. Prior to the second coming of Messiah Yeshua, there will be an Elijah message and ministry that is raised up to “prepare the way for the LORD”.
