Welcome to the Tweed Trends Podcast. Hey, Evac, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evac, hey girl! And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.
It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Avastomy hearties. Today we talk like a pirate day. Although my pirate T's is a bit rusty, batten down the hatches, because there's a storm I'm brewing in the form of me show, R-R-R.
And today's show title is, Emergency Situations. Let's get started, R-R-R. Instagram has announced that tighter restrictions are going to be imposed on some posts related to diet products and cosmetic surgeries on both Instagram and Facebook. Concerns been raised about the impact of diet, detox and cosmetic surgery content can have on young people and their mental health and body image.
And therefore, posts that have information about incentives to buy these certain weight loss products or cosmetic procedures, as well as the miraculous claims that come along with some of these products and then offering a discount code or whatever. Those type things are going to be completely removed or they'll be hidden from users that are known to be under the age of 18. I think this is really great, but honestly, you know what? Can I get it taken off of mine too?
Can I opt in? Because I can't tell you how sick entire night I am of seeing the advertisement with the, well it's not even an advertisement, it's a post, but it's clickbait. Where they have the ice tray, you know the one, with the colored stuff that's either being poured in or taken out and some claim about I hate this and my metabolism went through the roof and I lost all this weight and you click on it and you're just like, oh, I can't believe I fell for this. I feel so stupid.
So Instagram, if you hear me, can, is there a way that other people can opt in? I'm not under 18, but if I alter my age on my page, can you please take that stuff off mine too, please, and thank you? Do do do. So where the Instagram story was responding to an emergency situation that's happening in society where young people are having more and more issues with their self-image and therefore they're seeing these things about diets and seeing things about surgeries and are doing the most to try to change that image outwardly to possibly change how they feel inwardly.
Now this next story is about an emergency sleep attack where, let's say you're at work and you're sitting at your desk and then all of a sudden out of nowhere, the sleep monster jumps on your back and you are fighting it, your struggling, your head is not and your eyelids are getting heavy and you're just like, oh, I gotta fight it off, gotta fight it off. And then you get to the point where you're like, you know if I can just close my office door for like two seconds and get some rest. That's all I need is just like maybe five minutes. So if you ever find yourself in that situation, guess what?
There's a company that has created an under-desk hammock. Yeah, an under-desk hammock. For those times when you're at work and you get tired and you need to take a little power nap. You know, like duh.
So it's interesting though, because the way how they describe it is almost as if people can bring their own desk to work, because they make it seem like you're gonna be the bell of the ball. Everybody at work is gonna be envious of you with you and you're under-desk hammock because I guess they're gonna be checking you out, taking naps every now and then. Right. Now there is a drawback.
The hammock can only hold 200 pounds. So if you're over 200 pounds, then you're out of luck. You gotta go on a diet, lose some weight, do something, but get under 200 and you're good. Although for use not with the desk like outside outdoors, it can hold up to 400 pounds.
So you and all your buds can get in it outside. But if you're at work, 200 pounds is the max. Now there's a website. So I'm gonna link the website.
You can buy this hammock for $55. Now mind you, this is just a hammock. This is not the desk included. The desk to me is kinda small.
I couldn't really see myself because I'm looking at my current desk and I'm like, whoa, but it might help me downsize on my desktop if I had less desk space. So I'm looking to see, it looks like the actual desk itself is about $540. So $540. And if you buy the desk though, it comes with the hammock, a long free of charge.
But if you're just buying the hammock, like if you already have the desk, then the hammock by itself is $55. So let me know. I wanna know what your thoughts are on this. I think it's, I don't know.
I think it's probably for a new age type office because I don't see this happening in many places. No, I'm not paying you to sleep under your desk. I don't care how much power you need for a nap. Doo doo doo doo.
If you are suffering from that emergency sleep attack, it may be due to what you had for lunch, which brings us to this next emergency. It's in case of an emergency hunger attack and or extremely low blood sugar levels. So what you do is, if you're in select locations, that would be Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia. Yeah, make your way over to Kentucky Fried Chicken and get one of these chicken donut sandwiches.
Yes, it's a piece of fried chicken mashed between two glazed donuts. Yeah, I don't know who thought this was a good idea. Not that I haven't heard of this before, but why? Why?
What is it that you're trying to prove by going and eating chicken on donuts? I don't get it. And you know, it's funny because a while back, there was this show that I used to love to watch The Boondocks and there was an episode, I think the episode was called The Idis, but Grandad made this particular menu item and it goes a little something like this. All right, present to you a full pound burger covered in cheese, real onion, by a stripped of bacon, all sandwich between.
Two donuts, two, a fish, Grandad, you can't serve this kind of food to people, it'll cause death. Well, this is what crackers feel like. Shit. Yeah, and that was my same thought when I saw it like, hmm, this reminds me of the Luther.
And that show, it, you know what, I'm gonna see if I can link this one too. Very funny, but it was trying to point out that we are eating terribly and what it's causing in our lives and it was really bad, it was really bad. So I'm hoping this menu item does not take off, it just so happens that I live not far from Norfolk, so I may run over there just to kind of stand around and see are people ordering this? Like for real or even go in and ask me like, what's up with that sandwich?
Are people getting that? Like for real and do they like it? So I don't know, but yeah, another emergency situation. You get into that situation and next thing you know, you're very well maybe having to take yourself to the emergency room.
Well, that was today's episode, talking about emergency situations. Do me a favor, head on over to Twitter and follow me at heebat, that's at heebat, e-v-e-t-e, or just look for the hashtag tweet trends. Before I go, just to let you know that along with today being talk like a pirate day, it's also get ready day. And it's all about making sure that we know how to best respond to an emergency situation.
So get ready day is a great reminder to stock up on supplies that will prepare you to cope with a crisis. And then you know, also dangerous, unexpected situations can be very nerve-wracking and stressful and unsettling. But thanks to get ready day, we can stay a little calmer. So use today to maybe practice a fire drill at home or better yet, make sure that your kids have an idea and know what to do in emergency situations because they don't think in terms of that.
Everything for them is puppies and rainbows, you know? So help them to better deal with an emergency that could possibly happen, whether it be in the house or outside of the home. And you know what, I think the more you practice it, the better off you'll be. And when those emergencies pop up, you'll be more equipped and better able to handle it.
All right, have a great day. And I will see you on Tuesday.
