The Epstein Files Become Maxwell’s New Weapon (6/25/26)

Ghislaine Maxwell is trying to overturn her 20-year prison sentence by arguing that newly released Epstein files prove her conviction was unfair. In an amended habeas corpus petition filed in Manhattan federal court, Maxwell claims the documents show that her due process rights were violated before trial, including her argument that lawyers for Epstein’s accusers acted like “de facto prosecutors” and government agents. She is also reviving her long-running claim that Epstein’s 2007 non-prosecution agreement in Florida should have protected her from being prosecuted, even though courts have already rejected that argument.Federal prosecutors are pushing back hard, saying Maxwell’s latest claims are late, speculative, inaccurate, and do not prove that her trial was unfair. Maxwell also accuses prosecutors of failing to properly investigate witnesses and evidence, including by not interviewing Les Wexner, while claiming the newly released records show the government relied on misleading information.
